Margot Robbie in the role of Catherine is a revelation!
She’s not a romantic doll, but a living, breathing, and passionate woman!
She loves Heathcliff, but chooses comfort and status.
Robbie nails it! Her character can be tender one minute, and then hard as nails and significant the next.
You know, in some scenes, I found myself torn between sympathy and outrage.

At times, I felt like the film was trying too hard to elicit sympathy and soften his brutality.
But the chemistry between Elordi and Robbie is seriously on point! Their scenes together are electric. BRAVO!
Differences from the Bronte Novel
The main difference from the original is the condensed storyline.
The movie skips the second part of the novel, which tells the story of Catherine and Heathcliff’s children.
The ending is also much darker and more abrupt.
I notice that Heathcliff’s character has been toned down a bit.
In the novel, he’s much more brutal and merciless.
In the movie, he’s portrayed as a man broken by love, rather than a deliberate avenger.
And of course, there are the obligatory steamy scenes - a Hollywood staple.
They’ve watered down the classic, if you ask me.
We see Catherine’s fantasies, where she’s pleasuring herself - it’s a bit too much.
Let’s just say they’ve taken some liberties with the original material.

Despite that, the film gets under your skin emotionally. And if I’m being honest, I found myself tearing up - it really gets to you!

The uneven pace. The first half is engaging, but the second half falters, especially in the scenes of Heathcliff’s revenge.
‘The Storm’ 2026 is a visually stunning, incredibly passionate, and emotionally charged film that’s also pretty ambiguous. It’s a movie about love that destroys, about decisions that change the course of your life.And about pride that’s stronger than happiness...
I left the cinema with puffy eyes from crying. Watching it on Valentine’s Day was ironic, as I got a tragedy instead of romance. But it’s definitely stuck with me.
This isn’t a perfect film, but it’s worth watching.
