My Take on the New World Dom Champagne Cellar in 2025: A Tour and Tasting Experience

summarizeEditor's Summary

I visited the World Dom Champagne Cellar in Sudak with my family in September 2025. The tour and tasting experience was top-notch, with a super knowledgeable guide sharing the history and craftsmanship behind their fine champagnes. We started with a 15-minute taxi ride from Sudak to the cellar's location in Novy Svet, which was a nice way to get settled. The cost for one person, including the tour and tasting, was 1400 rubles, which I thought was a pretty good value for money. What really impressed me was the attention to detail and the quality of the champagnes on offer. If you're a champagne enthusiast or just looking for a unique experience in Sudak, I highly recommend a visit to the World Dom Champagne Cellar.

Hello there!
We visited this champagne event in September 2025 during our vacation in Sudak.
The champagne factory is located in the village of Novy Svet at ul. Shalyapina, d.1.
We took a taxi, which is about a 15-minute ride from Sudak.
The cost for one person, including the tour and tasting, was 1400 rubles.
We booked the tour in advance by phone. The group size for the tour can be up to 40 people.
Before the tour, we were given headphones and players to make it easier to get information from the guide.
The factory's territory is small, and the tour took about 15 minutes. It wasn't the most cozy experience on a rainy day, but I listened to the story about Lev Golitsyn with interest.
To be honest, the factory's territory didn't leave any memorable impressions. There were no installations, decorations, or plants.
I only remember the monuments to Lev Golitsyn – it felt like they were everywhere.
Lev Sergeyevich is a legend of Novy Svet and sparkling wines. He's an extraordinary person in both his profession and personal life. Listening to his biography was really engaging.
The introduction to the world of Golitsyn's wines was just as unconventional.
At the 1900 World's Fair, his wine "Paradiso" participated anonymously. When they awarded the highest prize, Count Chandon (now the name of the chardonnay) was sure that his wine had won. They had to conduct a re-tasting. Golitsyn's wine had participated officially this time – and again, it won the gold medal. That's how the world learned about the wines of Novy Svet. The tour itself was informative, but if you've never been to old wine cellars, you won't see much of that in Novy Svet. Maybe it's because the factory was under reconstruction during our visit, and it's being expanded and renovated now. Compared to the tour in Abru-Dyurso, where we walked through the wine tunnels and saw the entire infrastructure, I wasn't too disappointed, especially since it's always cool in the tunnels.
We were invited into the building from the street, into a small hall in the tunnel with an exhibition of old champagne samples. There's always something beautiful about old things – history.
They also had a stand with old photos, which showed significant figures of the state visiting the New World, Lev Golytsin himself, and other interesting moments from the 'life' of the factory.
If you're interested in the tour part, they don't show you anything in the New World, but here's a photo of the only part of the basement you'll see. They've even put up a ribbon in front of the shelves with bottles, but you can't go past it.
Next up was a movie screening in a separate room with comfortable temperature and seating. I have to say, the movie was actually pretty interesting and not as dull as the one in Abrau-Dyurso.
What really impressed me, though, was the degustation hall itself. The interior is done in the style of Bajov's fairy tales, and it looks absolutely stunning, luxurious, and mind-blowing. The interior is not just aesthetically pleasing, but it's done with soul, like the fairy tales of a Russian writer.
For the degustation, they offered 8 samples of sparkling wine.
The impression after tasting each of the offered wines could be noted down in a special card that was also provided to all the tasters.
I'm a bit of a champagne aficionado, but we're more of a dry wine kind of couple. However, the New World's products really won me over, and I might just swap my traditional champagne bottle for New World's on New Year's Eve.
Since the tour with tasting had a relatively affordable price tag compared to, say, Myshka or Golubitskoe Estate, the only snack they offered besides grissini was the champagne itself.
Everyone on the tour got a promotional brochure, a champagne flute stand, and a pen with the factory's logo. Nice little perks.
When it comes to wine pairings, we're pretty knowledgeable, but the accompaniments for the sparkling wine were a whole different story. I was surprised to find out that pickled herring is actually a great match for champagne. And chocolate? Forget about it – it's a total mismatch.
The verdict:
I'm giving it 5/5. The atmosphere was pleasant, the tour flew by, and it wasn't too info-heavy.
After the tasting, we headed to the factory store.

Avoid booking with Karela Tour at all costs. Our experience was a total disaster, from the forced sales to the aggressive staff behavior.
