A Total Disaster: My Thoughts on 'The Unbelievable 2'

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm still trying to wrap my head around The Unbelievable 2, the latest horror movie from 2022. Unfortunately, it's a total disaster – a convoluted, disturbing, and bizarre ride that fails to deliver on its promises. The filmmakers tried to capitalize on the success of the original, but it's clear they stretched it too thin. The movie's got some improved cinematography, but that's about it. If you're a fan of the original, you might want to skip this one. The plot's a mess, the characters make some really stupid decisions, and the villain's a total letdown. The movie's also got some really disturbing scenes that are just plain gratuitous. With a runtime of around 2 hours, it feels like it's dragging on forever. Overall, it's just not worth watching.

Hello everyone, I hope you're all having a great day!
I'm here to give you my take on the latest horror movie, The Unbelievable 2, released in 2022. This American production falls squarely into the horror genre, and it's a wild ride – literally. I was genuinely hoping it would be a one-off, but no such luck. They stretched out the runtime and gave us even more of the same old, same old.
The Unbelievable 2 is a sequel to the 2020 film of the same name, and it's clear that the filmmakers were trying to capitalize on the success of the original. Unfortunately, they failed miserably. The movie is a convoluted, disturbing, and just plain bizarre ride that fails to deliver on its promises.
Let's break it down. I'll start with the positives – or what little there are.
The cinematography has improved, that's the one good thing I can say about this movie.Everything else is just a mess. I was intrigued at first, thinking it might have a detective vibe, but it got dragged out and turned into a convoluted, disturbing, and just plain bizarre ride.
The negatives are numerous, and they're all major red flags. I was thoroughly disappointed by the film's sheer lack of originality. The question is, who is this movie for, and what's it even trying to say? The plot is ridiculously predictable and boring, and the characters make some seriously stupid decisions.
The characters, both main and secondary, remain underdeveloped and lack depth. The whole story is a drag, stuck on the same tired theme over and over. It's just one big mess, lacking any semblance of purpose or direction. The violence is gratuitous and senseless, and the idea of a sequel to this film is just rehashed and unoriginal.
The pacing is ridiculously slow, and to make matters worse, the dialogue is just as dull and unhelpful. The whole 'mystery' thing with the dad is just a cheap attempt to create suspense, but it falls flat. We're left guessing, and not in a good way.
The boredom is palpable, and the attempt to make the violence 'edgy' just comes across as forced and cringeworthy. The music is equally terrible, trying to create a sense of unease but only ending up being annoying. It's like the creators are trying to make us feel cynical, or maybe they're just trying to be edgy for the sake of it. Either way, it's a mess.
The ending is a complete non sequitur. What were the creators trying to say? What was the point of introducing the main character's backstory? It's like they took two steps forward and then took a hundred steps back. The whole thing is just a mess, and I'm left wondering who this movie is even for. It's a complete waste of time.
Let's just say the sequel didn't live up to the third movie. But it's not like it's a legendary franchise like Saw or a Halloween copycat – although those once-popular franchises have seen better days.
I'm left with a blood-soaked, mindless slasher that's been dragged out too long (I'm guessing they paid extra for runtime, hence the endless padding). It's a complete waste of time, boring, uninteresting, brutal, and devoid of any logic or purpose. The imagination of the person who came up with this is a bit disturbing. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. I wouldn't recommend watching this, and I'm not just saying that because of the gratuitous violence – although that's part of the problem. It's a genuine horror show. Don't bother.
