My Blood Work Nightmare: Sberzdorovye, Invitro, and the Agony of Waiting

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm still trying to get my blood work done, but the process has been a total nightmare. I stumbled upon Sberzdorovye, a service in the Sberbank app that lets you book discounted blood work through partner labs. The thing is, in Voronezh, it's only Invitro, which is a bit of a trek from my place. I'm not a fan of the long wait times, and the experience has left me feeling super frustrated. I've been trying to get my blood work done for weeks now, and it's been a real challenge. The Sberzdorovye service is convenient, especially with the discount through the Sberbank app, but it's not without its issues. Here's the lowdown on what I've encountered so far.

I've been putting off getting my blood work done till the weather warms up, but now I'm itching to check for vitamin deficiencies and get my hemoglobin levels checked. I usually head to the NMT lab near my place - they're fast and I've got a discount card there.
But then I stumbled upon the opportunity to get discounted blood work through the Sberbank app. I had no idea Sberzdorovye existed. It seems weird to have so many third-party services in a bank's app, but I guess that's what the ads are for.

I decided to take a closer look. Apparently, Sberzdorovye has a bunch of partner labs where I can get my blood work done. But in Voronezh, it's only Invitro, which is a bit of a trek from my place, so I don't usually go there.

I didn't do a super thorough price comparison with another clinic, but it seemed like Sberzdorovye might actually be the cheaper option. Or at least, that's what I thought. But then I got to the checkout process and realized I couldn't find the discount code in the Sber app. Not a big deal, I guess.
I did manage to add the tests I wanted to the cart, enter a promo code, and create an order. I could pay for it later, when the tests were ready. It's a bit weird, but I guess some people might find that convenient.

Next, I called Invitro to clarify if there's a difference in sending in the test results and the timeframe for readiness. Our lab is nearby. They told me that if I send in the samples by 11 am on the current day, they'll be ready by evening. If I send them in later, it'll be the next day.
I decided to wake up early on the weekend to send in the samples, check the results in the evening, and calm my nerves. Waiting is always stressful for me.
xa0
I then decided to book an appointment with my doctor, figuring I'd show them the test results and get some advice on other matters. I sent in the samples on February 15, and they were supposed to be ready by the evening of the same day. By February 17, I already had an appointment booked.
I arrived at Invitro early in the morning. It was deserted – just the administrator and the lab technician were there. I signed the documents, gave my blood sample, and double-checked the timeframe: they said it would be ready today, or at the latest, the next day. They gave me a printout of the timeframe.
Kitchen sink day for all the test results, except one, was listed as February 16, and one complex test would be ready on February 23.
For some reason, my test order got split into two. They took 5-6 blood samples in tiny vials, and I was left standing outside, feeling like a rabbit in a snowstorm. I was waiting)
Of course, nothing arrived in the evening. I got tired of fiddling with the Sberbank app and installed the Sberzdrav app separately. Nothing changed.
xa0
Sberzdrav (formerly DocDoc) – a service for finding a doctor and booking an appointment Waiting is always a struggle for me – I get anxious and stressed. I calmed myself down, thinking that maybe everything would be ready in the morning.
But no.
Another day went by. February 17, the appointment with the doctor. No test results. It wasn't until closer to evening that I received a tiny part of the results – the general test. That was it – the rest of the data wasn't there.
After waiting until midnight – the clinic's deadline – I decided to call Invitro's hotline. The operator tried to help me at first, asking for details.
- When did you send in the samples?
- I sent the samples yesterday morning, before 12. The test results were supposed to arrive the same day, but they didn't...
- Did you check the spam? Didn't you get an SMS? And what does the order timeline say?
After figuring out that nothing had arrived, I casually mentioned that I was even looking for the results in the SberZdravie app - and nothing was there either.
But the operator had already been replaced.
- AAAAAAA, you sent the samples through SberZdravie? Well, then you should contact them! We're not responsible for SberZdravie, they might have their own rules for test results!
The operator's voice sounded relieved - they'd found a way out of the conversation.
But, excuse me, you're the ones who collaborate with SberZdravie, you even ran one test... And then you just discard the results from intermediaries, or they don't get into the execution queue? How is it that you managed to run a simple test in two days, with great difficulty, while other clinics send the results to me in under four hours?
The operator continued to talk condescendingly and shamelessly, as if I wasn't a client of their clinic, but some kind of insignificant creature with no connection to them. And another question: whose territory is this, the Invitro or SberZdravie one?
xa0
Anyway, I was just kicked around without any help. The operator didn't even make a request to the lab, or try to assist in any way. Just indifference.
I called the SberZdravie hotline. They clarified which tests were still not ready and promised to make a request to the lab. We spoke politely and normally.
xa0
And then the miracles continued...
The order, which had a ton of tests, where only the OAK was completed - got closed.
SberZdravie (formerly DocDoc) - a service for finding a doctor and booking an appointment reviews The lab sent a notice that all tests would be ready by 25.02 - they added two extra days to the longest test in the list.
Sberzdrav (formerly DocDoc) - doctor search and appointment booking service reviews I called the Sberzdrav hotline: "We'd love to help, but the lab, Invitro, has given us such tight deadlines."
I called Invitro: "Sort it out with Sberzdrav, you guys ordered the tests through them, we're not involved here!"
After countless calls and nervous breakdowns, the test results just showed up quietly. And I'm not sure if it's thanks to Sberzdrav's support or if the lab, Invitro, just finally got around to it...
Sberzdrav (formerly DocDoc) - doctor search and appointment booking service reviews To be honest, the situation is really unpleasant...
Maybe it's different in big cities, but in the regions, it's just one big emotional mess.
Paying a small fortune and then stressing out, wondering who to get the results from... I mean, I did end up getting the free state clinic tests, after all.
And situations vary. Sometimes, it's crucial to get the results as soon as possible.
Why does the lab set deadlines and then fail to meet them? Or is it that the deadlines are different when you order directly versus through Sberzdrav? Why isn't this clearly stated anywhere?
Even if you assume the lab's just overwhelmed and couldn't get to it on time, why make customers stress out, call, and search for answers? Can't they just send a simple SMS saying the deadline's been pushed back for a while? Whose responsibility is it - the middleman or the service provider?
I guess you could say you're saving some money. And the service itself is pretty good. The app's a bit cluttered, but there are some cool features. For example, you can consult with a doctor online, and the first consultation when you submit tests is free.

I was surprised to see that even veterinarians are listed - that's a nice touch. It's not every day you see that.
Sberzdorovye (formerly DocDoc) - a service for finding a doctor and booking an appointment reviews
I can already analyze my own test results, but it's interesting to hear a specialist's opinion - if they actually have real doctors on board, that is. They gave me some useful recommendations. I reached out out of curiosity. Online consultations are a pretty weird format, if you ask me.

Sberzdorovye (formerly DocDoc) - a service for finding a doctor and booking an appointment reviews
Overall, I wouldn't be surprised if this service is top-notch in Moscow, with plenty of labs to choose from and fast results. But out here, it's a different story. We've got a real dearth of options - Sberzdorovye only partners with Invitro, and that's it.
Invitro, by the way, has a pretty bad reputation - at least, according to what I've heard. They're slow with test results, and their consultants are completely unprofessional. The ones from Sber, on the other hand, are polite and courteous - kudos to them.
Honestly, I'm not sure if I'll use this service again. So far, my experience hasn't been great. Maybe I'll reach out if I need the results quickly. For now, I've made up my mind that in our city, it's best to go straight to the lab.
