This Roulette Russe Shimmer Balm is a Total Game-Changer!

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm absolutely loving this Roulette Russe shimmer balm - it's a total game-changer for my makeup routine! Not only does it give my skin a gorgeous, subtle shine, but it's also surprisingly long-lasting. I've been using it for a week now, and the build quality has exceeded my expectations. The packaging might be a bit finicky, but trust me, it's worth the extra effort. For under 500 rubles, this balm is an absolute steal. I've tried other brightening balms before, but none have impressed me like this one. The jojoba oil in the formula is a total winner - it leaves my skin feeling hydrated and looking radiant. If you're looking to add some sparkle to your makeup routine without breaking the bank, look no further!

I've been itching to add some brightness to my makeup routine before spring arrives, but since it's still freezing outside, I started looking for brightening balms instead. And I found one!
&xa0;
This Roulette Russe shimmer balm is a total game-changer.
&xa0;
&xa0;
I bought it through the Letu app.
The price came out to around 500 rubles, with some points deducted.
&xa0;
I chose it randomly, scrolling through the app and stumbling upon an interesting packaging design. I read the customer reviews, and they were all positive. The order was assembled within an hour, and I picked it up from the store.
&xa0;
PACKAGING
The balm came in a cardboard box, like this one. It's all sealed and taped up, with stickers covering it. I had to carefully open it so I wouldn't rip it.
Somewhere on one side, it says the brand name, and on the other, the product name.
Russian Roulette, if you will. What does the name promise? A bullet, of course!
&xa0;
By the way, this shape is surprisingly comfortable to hold in my hand, better than those flat-bottomed cases I'm used to.
&xa0;
The lid is designed like a crown, and attached to it is a small hook.
It turns out, this is a lipstick applicator. And it's removable, too!
Check out how cute it is!
I was a bit worried that the cap would get lost, but it clicks into place securely and stays put as a keychain.
Initially, the bristles on the brush were stiff, like they'd been glued together. A quick wash with warm water sorted them out.
It's usable, but its tiny size makes it a bit of a hassle to work with. I'm used to applying lipstick with a bigger brush, so this one takes some getting used to.
THE SHADE
The shade I went for is called 003 - Siberian Blush. I picked it based on the picture, and I think I made a good choice. It's the most refreshing shade in my entire lipstick collection, and it's not as obvious as it looks at first glance.
When I first pulled the stick out of its case, I was blown away by how gorgeous it looked. Everything sparkles, everything shines, it's just so intricate.
And the first swatch showed me a million golden sparkles.
So, will my lips be sparkling like that too?
Nope, thankfully, it wasn't the case. I was worried that the shimmer on the stick's surface would be overwhelming, but after wiping it off, I got a pretty subtle shine that's perfect for everyday wear.
&xa0;
Before applying, let's take a look at the INGREDIENTS and see if we can spot any familiar names in the periodic table of cosmetics.
I found two: JOJOBA and ALCOHOL. Don't judge me.
&xa0;
Now, let's get to the good stuff!
&xa0;
I started with a brush, like I usually do, and it applied beautifully. It glided smoothly over my lips and evenly coated them, but I wanted a bolder look. This is a balm, after all, so it's semi-transparent. Time to ditch the brush and go all out.
It's best to apply this balm straight from the stick. It has a lightweight texture that creates a thin, veil-like finish, and it's hard to get any more even than that. The color is rich and buildable.
&xa0;
Siberian Blush is a subtle yet complex shade. It's not quite red, not quite pink, not quite peach, not quite bronze, not quite salmon, but it's got hints of all those colors.
Shimmer is super subtle, with barely any noticeable sparkles on my lips.
&xa0;
The shade really makes my complexion look fresher, brighter, and healthier.
Right now, I'm looking pretty rough in the mirror – my skin is super dry from the -20C temperatures outside and the 27C heaters at home. But even in this bleak state, the color of this lip balm gives me a bit of a glow.
I've been wearing this balm both indoors and outdoors, and it's held up really well to the cold – my lips stay comfortable.
&xa0;
One of the things I like about this product is that it doesn't spread on its own, it doesn't smudge or get stuck in the corners, my lips feel nourished and moisturized, and the color applies smoothly and evenly, like a glide of oil.
&xa0;
My only major gripe is that this lip balm lasts around 2-3 hours on its own, gradually fading. But as soon as something touches my lips, it's gone in an instant – a sip from a straw, a plate, anything. Even just holding a pen cap against my lips for a second and it's like, poof!
&xa0;
For that reason, I'm docking a star, but overall, this lip balm is amazing. I'm definitely going to buy another shade.
I'm adding 'Russian Roulette' to my list of faves.
&xa0;
But let's talk about the lip care products I've been loving lately.
