A Water Park That's Starting to Show Its Age

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been visiting Rodéo Drive water park in St. Petersburg for almost 20 years, and while its location is still a major draw, the park itself is seriously outdated. The hills are dull, and the slides are hit-or-miss. The double blue-red slide is fun, but the blue slide with the cushion moves too slowly. The water park's lack of modern attractions and maintenance issues make it a disappointing experience. Despite its small size, Rodéo Drive has some redeeming qualities, like its pleasant location and decent customer support. To be honest, it's not the water park it used to be.

A Water Park That's Starting to Show Its Age
I've been visiting the Rodéo Drive water park in the mall of the same name for almost 20 years now. It's the second-largest water park in St. Petersburg, and its location is a major draw for me. Since we live on the north side of the city, it's a quick 15-20 minute drive, and there's also a public transportation option from the metro stations.
But let's get real – that's where my praise ends, because Rodéo Drive is seriously outdated. And for that, I'm taking away a well-deserved -1 star.
The hills are pretty dull, to be honest. I've been there once before, back in 2008, and after visiting other water parks, I can say there's something to compare it to. But if you don't mind, you can go there every six months or so and experience a bit of joy on the yellow and green slide.
You don't feel any stitches on the blue slide with the cushion. You can pick up some speed and enter the water with a loud whoosh. On the other hand, the blue slide with the cushion moves really slowly – either they're being stingy with the water or the cushion is just too soft.
The double blue-red slide is just for fun to ride together. And there's a small kids' area with a couple of slides.
That's it for the thrill-seekers. There's also a pool where you can swim, and a cave with underwater hydro massage. The pool has a gradual entrance – it's 3 meters deep at the end! – and they turn on the wave every hour for 10 minutes.
On the climbing wall (above the 3-meter deep pool), they used to have these attachment points that let you climb up and jump into the water, but they've been removed. They've also taken away the spinning bucket. I don't get why. But they've added a bunch of barriers everywhere, so you have to be super careful when climbing the stairs, just like in any other water park.
One of the things that really stood out to me was how you can only enter and exit the water in certain areas. In the potentially slippery wet zones, there are rubber mats instead of plastic ones, and it's really comfortable to walk on them barefoot.
The ticket prices for this water park are pretty steep. We went in January 2026, and it cost us 2200 rubles for an adult and child ticket – and that was even with a discount! Without the discount, it's basically extortion. I'm also deducting another point because they only started accepting cards recently, and before that, you had to pay cash only!
As for the staff, they're super friendly and helpful. The lifeguards on the slides are really attentive, and everyone's got their eye on safety. If you need help, just give a whistle!
The changing rooms are pretty decent, especially if you enter from the main entrance – they're separated into men's and women's areas.
Honestly, I'm not sure I'd recommend this place to anyone. But if you're stuck and don't have any other options, it's not the worst water park in the world. The prices are steep, the facilities are outdated, and the staff are friendly but not enough to make up for the lack of amenities.
