St. Petersburg's Europe Plaza

I've been to a lot of shopping centers in St. Petersburg, but Europe Plaza really stands out for its great value for money. With over 200 stores and restaurants under one roof, you'll find everything from clothes and electronics to a quick bite to eat. Plus, the location is super convenient - it's right in the heart of the city.

A Hidden Gem in St. Petersburg: Europe City Mall Review

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been to my fair share of shopping centers in St. Petersburg, but Europe City really stands out. The mall has undergone significant changes in the past two years, transforming it into a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a great shopping experience. Located on Polyustrovsky Prospekt, house 84, Europe City is within walking distance of the 'Lesnaya' metro station, making it super convenient to get to. The two-story parking lot is well-lit and organized, with lights indicating free and occupied spots. While the mall's layout can be a bit confusing, especially for first-time visitors, the overall atmosphere is pleasant and there's plenty to see and do. You'll find a wide range of shops, including import boutiques, fashion stores, and specialty stores, as well as a variety of restaurants and cafes to suit all tastes and budgets. The mall also features a number of kid-friendly stores and attractions, including a play area and a variety of children's clothing stores. With its great shopping and dining options, Europe City is a great spot to spend the day.

A Hidden Gem in St. Petersburg: Europe City Mall Review
I've been to my fair share of shopping centers in St. Petersburg, but Europe City really stands out. Two years ago, it was a completely different story, but now it's a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a great shopping experience.
Located on Polyustrovsky Prospekt, house 84, Europe City is within walking distance of the 'Lesnaya' metro station, taking around 5-10 minutes to get there. For those who prefer to drive, there's an underground parking lot available, but be aware that surface parking is not an option. Underground parking is free on weekdays for the first two hours, but on weekends, parking is paid all day.
One of the things I love about Europe City is the convenient parking system. The parking spots have lights above them, indicating whether they're free or occupied. It's a small touch, but it really makes a big difference.
The parking lot is a two-story affair, but it only goes in one level - the bottom one. You'll need to use the elevator or escalator to get to the first floor, which is essentially the second floor.
Now, I know some of you might be thinking, 'Europe City isn't exactly the most impressive mall in terms of design.' And you're right - it's not as sleek as some of the other shopping centers in the city. But what it lacks in style, it makes up for in substance.
Take London Mall, for example. It's a great place to take some cool photos, but it's not exactly the kind of place you'd want to spend hours browsing. Europe City, on the other hand, is a mixed bag - it's got ancient Roman columns, a 'luxury-gaudy' style, a loft, and some pretty wild design fantasies.
One of the things that's changed since my last visit is the selection of stores. Some of my usual go-to shops have been replaced by new ones. Take Maag, for example. It's pretending to be Zara, but it's actually a local brand registered in the UAE to avoid drawing attention. And get this - a Uniqlo store is about to be replaced by Lime, which Victoria Bonia has jokingly referred to as 'LimE'.
There are also a ton of new brands I've never heard of, but the two hours of free parking don't give me enough time to explore - I have to prioritize and stick to the stores I came for. Take Gate31, for example - another brand with Russian roots. Their prices are super optimistic, to say the least. I mean, a leather jacket for 17,000 rubles? I'm not sure if the quality lives up to the prices.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the shopping center still has a smoking area - a rare find in modern malls. On the opposite side of the alley, there are import stores and even entire boutiques. It's like they're trying to give us a taste of luxury - without breaking the bank. The prices are unbeatable, but like they say, 'each to their own'.
The best part is that there's still a choice and an alternative to those 'zary' stores and 'lav ripabliks' that open up in every shopping mall. Soon, we'll be forced to repeat the experience of the Soviet Union and end up wearing the same thing.
I really hope that the tradition of holding bi-annual sales will continue. It's a great way to get some amazing deals on the things you need.
I was blown away by the three fountains on the first floor of Europeolis. There are plenty of benches to sit and catch your breath after browsing the pricey stores.
The second floor is also packed with shops. I'm glad to see that Mango has stuck around - their prices may have gone up a bit, but they're still a more affordable option compared to Zarina and Max Mara.
I actually went to Europeolis for Snow Queen, and I never thought I'd say this, but it's true. The selection of phone cases is amazing, and I ended up spending ages trying to decide which one to get.
I ended up paying for the green one first, then returning it for the white one. At 2240 rubles for genuine leather, these days it's a gift, not a price. I recently saw the cheapest similar model for over 5,000 rubles at the Outlet Village Pulkovo, so I guess I was lucky.
No visit to the mall is complete without a dash to the cosmetics store. I always make a beeline for 'Europolis'.
I also popped into 'Letuial'. I held the Chanel serum, with a 20-day shelf life and a 70% discount, for over 4,000 rubles.
Back in the day, 'Europolis' used to have a Finnish store called Prisma, where we'd go for their signature pickled cucumbers. After Prisma closed down, 'Perekrestok' moved in, but it seems they overestimated their capabilities. Now, the space is occupied by a big, clean, and fresh 'Okey'.
I was thinking, 'I've got a store like this just around the corner from my place, so I'm not expecting to be blown away.' But, boy, was I wrong. The cafe at the far end of the shopping hall is where I ended up grabbing a bite.
I opted for the set meal - it was a steal at 180 rubles for a soup, main course, and a side salad. And let me tell you, it was no fast-food burger and fries. I got a delicious chicken soup, a flavorful pilaf, a nice salad, and a refreshing carcade.
If I'm ever back in Europe polis or any other mall with an 'Okay' store, I'll definitely be stopping by this cafe again. It's a great value for money, the food's tasty, and it's not as unhealthy as the stuff you'd find on the food court.
And finally, I wanted to mention the bathrooms. Let's just say the photos don't quite capture the, ahem, 'aroma'...
I've seen some pretty rough state of the bathrooms here. Some stalls don't even have doors, and the cleaning is subpar. The smell in there is awful, and there's even urine on the floor.
Despite the cleanliness issues, I'd still recommend Europeolis - it's a solid choice for shopping. The mall has a great selection of interesting and larger stores, and it's close to the metro. Plus, it's not as touristy as the Galeria, which is a bonus. The only downside is that parking can be pricey.
