Hello everyone, I'm glad you're here to check out my review of STC's latest show!
STC's been churning out new shows left and right lately, and their latest one is a real mixed bag. The storyline's decent, but it doesn't quite live up to its potential.
It's about aliens in a village, which sounds pretty interesting, but unfortunately, it doesn't quite deliver.
So, where can you watch 'Not in My Basket', how many episodes are there, and will there be a second season?
Right now, there's only one season with 17 episodes, each about 24 minutes long. You can catch all the released episodes on the STC website, and new ones are airing on the STC channel, with three to four episodes per day, starting at 7 PM on TV.
As for the continuation, it's still unclear, since STC's been pumping out so many new shows lately that it's hard to tell which ones will get a second season.
What's 'Not in My Basket' about, and what do we know about the show without spoilers?
A tractor driver named Igor literally collides with a rescue capsule carrying three aliens who have landed in the village and taken on human form. Only he knows the truth about the extraterrestrial guests. The local police officer, Sergey Petrovich, suspects something fishy is going on in the village and starts an investigation.
The first scenes of the show feature a village, and we see a sign with the village's name, Savyatia, where the show's characters live.
Igor's daily life is pretty relatable. He lives with his grandma, drives a tractor to the market to sell his homegrown veggies, and even gives schoolkids a ride home in exchange for a bottle of vodka.
I think the creators of the show intended for us to laugh at this point.
One day, while Igor's driving, he encounters a bizarre phenomenon - a group of aliens appear next to him. Their spaceship has crashed, and they need time and parts to fix it.
Of course, no vodka joke would be complete without a mention.
As for the aliens, they don't stick around for long, since they can take on any form and Igor quickly finds a decent disguise by grabbing a picture from a glossy magazine.
I have to say, these characters do look pretty out of place in this village.
By the way, Igor gives them names - Svetlana, Boris, and Roman.
And guess what? Boris and Roman turn out to be Svetlana's sons. I guess that's something to laugh about.
I really enjoyed the soundtrack. The songs are amazing.
What songs are in the series 'Not in My Soup'? Who are the performers?

The soundtrack of the series is the song "Sky" by the group Disco Avalanche, also known as "The Sky of Distant Planets" in the people's language.
It's a great song and the songs in the series are all amazing, but the rest of it is just a mess.
The series features Yuri Stoyanov, which is why I watched it in the first place.
However, even a great actor like Yuri Stoyanov can't make the series watchable.
Yuri Stoyanov plays the role of the village's police officer. He seems to understand that something is off with Svetlana, Boris, and Roman, and he starts an investigation.
I also have to mention the filming.
One thing that's been bugging me about this show is the setting. Where was it actually filmed? I've been doing some digging, and it seems like the production team shot some scenes on location in real villages, but they had to choose a few that fit the bill.
Apparently, they scouted out several villages to find the perfect backdrop for the show. But it's not like they just used one location - they also built sets in studios for the futuristic spaceship and the village interiors, like the local cop's house and Igor's place.
I'm not buying the whole 'filmed on location' thing, though. The sets are pretty rough, and it's clear they're not real villages. And let's be real, the name 'Savvatia' is totally made up. Nowadays, most shows just make up fake village names to avoid confusing viewers.
The overall impression I got from this show.
It's all a bit clumsy.
The main character, Igor, just doesn't do it for me.
He's got way too much screen time, and it's just boring to watch him.
The aliens are pretty underwhelming, too.
I only saw a few interesting shots at the beginning, and after that, they just turned into humans, so I didn't get much more out of it.
But the adventures of these aliens in the village are just as unimpressive.
I found myself not caring to watch.
The love storylines they tried to create are pretty weak, mainly because the characters feel like puppets on strings.
It's even more annoying when you can see exactly how it's all going to end.
The storyline is super basic, and the idea of aliens in a village is actually pretty interesting - it's a shame they didn't come up with something better.
The characters are cardboard cutouts, like clowns, but not the funny kind.
So, if I had to sum it up, what we see in the STS show 'Not in My Boat' is a cardboard story with cardboard events and cardboard characters.
I've got to say, the humor in this series is a major letdown. It's the kind of stuff you'd expect from a toilet comedy.
One scene that really stands out is a schoolgirl giving a tractor driver a bottle of vodka for dropping her off at school - it's just ridiculous.
Unfortunately, the whole series is a miss for me.
I'm still waiting for STS to come back with some good shows. Remember when they used to air stuff like 'Kitchen', 'Youth', and 'Eighties'? Those were some great series.
But this time around, they've missed the mark.
I stopped watching after the fourth episode, and I wouldn't recommend this show to anyone. It's just not engaging, even for the most casual viewer.
I think even the most laid-back viewers will find this show boring to watch.
