The Real Deal on Savings - Not Always as Simple as It Sounds

summarizeEditor's Summary

My Price is a discount store from Magnit that offers competitive prices on everyday items, but it's not perfect. I've found some great deals on certain products, like affordable tea and mayonnaise, but prices can be inconsistent. Some items are more expensive than elsewhere, and the small staff can lead to a long wait at checkout. Still, it's worth checking out for those on a tight budget, as the store offers a clean and easy-to-navigate environment, and the selection is decent. I visit this store a couple of times a month and appreciate its value for money on household chemicals and personal care products. However, be cautious of variable prices, especially for sausages and some household items. Overall, My Price is a solid choice for those looking to save some cash, but it's essential to compare prices and plan your shopping trip strategically.

I've gotta say, 'My Price' is the baby of 'Magnit' with the lowest prices. But initially, when the discount network just launched, the prices there were way more interesting. They lured me in and then slowly started to raise them, counting on people going there out of habit. That's my opinion, and I think it's a natural process, so no negativity here - I just visit less often.
Still, I go to this store a couple of times a month and also when I need to buy something big. Now, I'll show you what I think is a good deal and what's better to buy somewhere else.
First off, let's talk about pensioners. If you decide to stock up with a discount, you should go there on a Monday morning. There'll be fewer people, and the pensioner discount will be available. By the way, 'Magnit' has upgraded their loyalty card - you earn points on non-discounted items, even with a pensioner discount.
The prices without discounts are usually in black in other stores, but not here. In 'My Price' everything is yellow, but if there's no note saying the discount won't apply, you can expect a discount.
In the top row, the gum prices have a note saying the discount won't apply, while the regular price is below, just in yellow, so you can still expect a discount.
By the way, I buy gum here - it's cheaper than anywhere else.
I've been to a few discount stores in my city, but this one stands out for its cleanliness. The aisles are wide, and I love that it's easy to navigate. That being said, I've had some issues with cleanliness in the past. Like the time I saw a customer drop a box of eggs, and they all broke. It's a bit of a mess until the staff can clean it up. I've noticed that the cleaning schedule is a bit inconsistent, and the staff is usually pretty small, with only two people on duty at a time.
I'm not sure why a company of this size would skimp on staff, but it's definitely noticeable. In other big-box stores, there's always someone around to help, but here, it's like finding a needle in a haystack.
I was lucky enough to visit when it was relatively quiet, and the staff was able to process my order quickly. The checkout process was smooth, and the staff was friendly.
One thing I appreciate is that most of the products are displayed in their original packaging, which makes it easy to see what you're getting. It's not a huge deal for me, but it's a nice touch.
Now, let's talk about what I like and dislike about shopping here.
First and foremost, it's the tea. I'm a big fan of a good cup of tea, and this store has a great selection.
I've found that the cheapest tea here is in my price range. To be honest, I don't drink it myself, but I do grab it for my husband. Specifically, Greenfield has long since crossed the 300 ruble mark for 200 grams, but here it's only 249 rubles for a 200-gram pack, and it's even cheaper with bergamot. That's exactly what I need, and I'm always coming back here because it's cheaper than everywhere else.
However, the coffee here is pricey.
To be honest, when the store first opened, I used to buy things here, but now it's more convenient to just head to a regular Magnit.
I also come here for dairy products. The selection is a bit limited, but the prices aren't much lower than anywhere else, and I do get some nice bonuses. My favorite category in the app is definitely the fermented milk products.
One thing that really stood out to me was the price of the mayonnaise – it's almost half the price of what I'd pay at other stores. In fact, it's even cheaper than the usual discounted price.
When it comes to the sausages, you've got to be careful – the prices can vary.
While there are some great deals to be found, I did notice that some prices were lower at other stores – and by a pretty significant margin.
The prices for fruits and veggies are pretty standard – as far as I know, this category is part of the social program, so there's a different markup.
I've found the best ice cream in town, and it's right here. Sure, 'KB' might be a competitor, but their selection is different. What I love about this place is the value for money.
The protein ice cream flavors are available at standard prices, so I'm not exactly impressed. I'm waiting for some discounts to pop up.
On the other hand, this place offers great value for money when it comes to household chemicals and personal care products.
When you compare prices for shampoos, you'll see just how much cheaper they are here.
So, for guys like me who aren't picky, there are plenty of opportunities to save some cash.
Household chemicals are partially a good deal. Not all prices are impressive, but most are pretty good.
I've got to say, the Fairy drink I've been obsessed with has a 900ml size for a steal at just 179 rubles. If you're a pensioner, you can even save an extra 10% on Mondays - or just set aside a bit on your card.
Sodas and lemonades are definitely on the menu!
I recently stumbled upon the price tag for the Apple J7 at a regular store - 299 rubles, and that's with a discount! Meanwhile, here you can get it for just 149 rubles, no discount needed.
So, I've got a mental note to come back here for some soda and lemonade when I'm getting ready for my trip. It's a long and hot train ride, and I need to prepare. Plus, it's always better to save some cash.
The selection is actually pretty good, if you ask me.
Freezing food options are a bit limited, but they're also pretty affordable.
I don't usually choose these products unless I really need them.
I do buy bread here - it's a good value.
On the other hand, I don't usually buy corn sticks 'Kuzia' here - they're usually too expensive, and I can find them cheaper elsewhere.
Sugar and oil here are the same price as everywhere else - they're also socially important products.
By the way, the butter here is a great value - I always buy it.
I don't go out of my way for sweets, but it's convenient to grab what I need. No need to make a special trip for candy.
You can buy chocolates here, but they're priced the same as everywhere else. The only perk is that you can earn rewards.
Today, I just stopped by on my way, so my purchase was small. All in all, it's a good deal.
I'd say this chain is definitely worth checking out for those who are on a tight budget. And this store in particular is great for people who are pinching pennies.
Prices aren't always the best, but you can get some decent deals on smaller items. I come here sometimes because I need to stretch my budget until my next paycheck. Or, you know, when I'm living on a super tight budget, trying to save up for something. Like now – I'm saving up for a vacation, so I'll definitely be heading to 'My Price' to save some cash.
So, yeah, I'd recommend it. It's a solid choice.
