After a failed attempt at another hospital, ZPZ in Novokuznetsk, I decided to try Mat and Rebenok. The difference in attitude and treatment approach was like night and day. I was blown away by the clinic's professionalism and compassion.

The doctor explained that we'd be preparing first, then doing the IVF. She reviewed my test results, prescribed some meds, and scheduled a date for the protocol.

Interestingly, I wasn't the only one going through IVF - my brother's wife was doing it at the same time. We were like two ships passing in the night, but we had completely different reasons for not getting pregnant. I had female factor issues, she had male factor issues. But the first clinic treated us the same way - it was jarring.

So, they treated me, topped up my deficiencies, and scheduled a date for the protocol.

I'm sure every woman who's gone through IVF knows this chart)) It's the induction protocol. The doctor breaks down which meds to take on which day. My protocol started in July 2020.

This protocol can change, shift based on ultrasound results over time. The most nerve-wracking part is the Ovitrelle shot. You have to inject it into your stomach subcutaneously on a specific day and time - no exceptions!

I made it through, and 12 eggs matured. We did the egg retrieval under anesthesia. Everything went smoothly. I was pleasantly surprised by the younger medical staff's attitude - they were super friendly and caring.

They scheduled the embryo transfer for the fifth day after egg retrieval. The procedure is done without anesthesia - it's completely painless. They showed me my already fertilized embryos on a tablet. It was unexpected and super nerve-wracking - I'll never forget it.

By the way, we managed to get 10 top-quality embryos out of 12 oocytes. The doctor said that's a great indicator. So, why didn't we get embryos like that the first time? I think the answer is obvious: a blunt approach to patients.

We transferred two embryos. One was at stage 4AA, the other at stage 2BB. As I was explained, we took one excellent and one good embryo to increase the chances of getting a singleton pregnancy. Because a multiple pregnancy is still tough and comes with a higher risk of complications.

After the procedure, we were given a pamphlet on how to behave afterwards.

We were scheduled to take a blood test for hCG 13 days after embryo transfer. Oh, how hard it was to wait!

I couldn't just sit around and wait. I went through a ton of pregnancy tests. A ton, I'm telling you.

But the thing is, those tests could be false positives, since I'd been given a shot of hCG, which might've affected the results. But when the second line started to turn pink, I knew it was real.

I took the blood test on my birthday, as it was scheduled that way.

We finally got the results, and it was the best birthday present ever!

Nine days later, we were invited for an ultrasound.

We saw my precious little embryo, and the doctor confirmed I was 4-5 weeks pregnant.

We were sent on our way for another two weeks, after which I went for a scheduled ultrasound to check on the baby's development.

I'll never forget the surprise I got when the doctor told me I was having twins! I was in a state of shock, then came the excitement and the relief. It's hard to put into words the mix of emotions you feel when you're told you're having another baby.

But the pregnancy wasn't easy. I had a tough time, with constant threats of miscarriage and bleeding. The pain was intense, and my stomach was growing so fast that my ligaments couldn't keep up. Every day felt like a challenge. And then came the premature emergency delivery. A month in the hospital that I'll never forget - it was a nightmare. I've written about it recently, and it's actually helped me to process my emotions. Now, I can think about the hospital without breaking down. I don't know how it works, but I'm even writing a review about IVF now. I used to get anxious just thinking about it, but now I feel so much better.

I gave up so much to have my kids, and I don't want to remember the bad times. I want to focus on the good.
