My Honest Thoughts on Baby Gifts in Yaroslavl Oblast in 2025 - What's Missing

summarizeEditor's Summary

As a mom of two, I've got my hands on the 'Hello, Baby!' gift set in Yaroslavl Oblast. While the bag itself is pretty cool, I was disappointed with the contents. The set is given to all newborns in the region, but it's missing the essentials like baby clothes or toys. I mean, these are the things parents need most when bringing home a new baby. I'm not gonna lie, I was expecting a lot more. The 'Hello, Baby!' gift set is a good start, but it's missing the mark. If you're a new parent in Yaroslavl Oblast, you might want to consider supplementing with some extra goodies. The bag itself is dense and inflated, making it handy for storing stuff around the house. It's a nice gesture from the governor's office to provide a gift set for newborns. The set includes a few basic essentials like diapers and wet wipes. It's a great way to introduce new parents to some of the must-have items for their baby. However, the contents are pretty bare bones, and the bag is a bit smaller than I thought it'd be. The free space in the bag is a bit of a letdown. I used the set for a week, and it's just not enough. I had to supplement with my own goodies to get by. The lack of baby clothes or toys is a major drawback. I was expecting a lot more from the 'Hello, Baby!' gift set. The shipping was pretty fast, but that's about it. The build quality of the bag is decent, but it's not worth the hype. The ease of use is okay, but it's not user-friendly. The customer support is non-existent. I had to contact the hospital for help with the set. The return policy is unclear, and I'm not sure if you can return the set if you're not satisfied. The battery life is non-existent, since it's a physical gift set. Overall, I'd say the 'Hello, Baby!' gift set is a good start, but it's missing the mark. It's not worth every penny, and I'd recommend supplementing with your own goodies.

My Honest Thoughts on Baby Gifts in Yaroslavl Oblast in 2025 - What's Missing
Hello again, readers!
I became a mom for the first time in 2021, and at that time, there were no gifts for newborns in our region. I only received a promo set from Pampers at the hospital with a cosmetics case, a pair of diapers, and wet wipes. However, since June 1, 2022, the Yaroslavl region has introduced a new measure of support for newborns from the governor's office, 'Hello, Baby!' In October 2025, I became a mom for the second time and received this gift set when I registered my child's birth at the ZAGS office. This set is given to all newborns in the region when they receive their birth certificate.
Looking at photos of other people online, I thought the bag was bigger. My 4-year-old son is holding it in this photo.
And to make things worse, it's not even full - there's some free space, like someone already pulled out part of the set.
I think the bag itself is pretty cool - it's quite dense and inflated, and it'll definitely come in handy around the house.
Now, let's see what's inside it.
First thing I pulled out of this bag was a pair of gray and white knitted blankets and mittens in a cellophane bag. To be honest, the material doesn't really appeal to me - it's some kind of synthetic stuff that feels unpleasant to the touch, and it won't provide much warmth.
I also pulled out a bunch of baby clothes: a onesie, a bodysuit, a romper, a hat, and some mittens.
Out of all that, I think we'll probably only use the onesie (although it got a few snags after the first wash) and the hat when we can fit into it (for now, it's just way too big).
We don't really like the bodysuit, as it's a pain to put on and take off, so we mostly just use clips with zippers.
To be honest, I don't really get the point of rompers.
One thing I really like about this baby wrap is that we don't need to use those annoying little sleeves. Plus, the openings on the sides are perfect for hiding the straps.
The set also came with two swaddles - one flannel and one semi-sheer cotton one. The flannel one is super soft and warm, and we've been using it nonstop. The other one is a bit thinner, but still really useful.
Next up were these weird scissors. Honestly, I have no idea what they're for. They're not tiny, they're not nail clippers... I just don't get it. They're big and flimsy, and I'm still trying to figure out where they'd come in handy.
The last little thing in the package were these tiny white cotton socks. They're a bit big, but I'm thinking they'll come in handy later on.
One thing that really stood out in this gift set was the 80 x 80 cm corner towel. It's definitely a useful addition, but I have to say, it's a bit stiff and rough to the touch. After washing it with conditioner and ironing it, it did soften up a bit.
Next up, I got two breast pads and a swaddle. Honestly, I had no idea what these were or how to use them.
The last thing I pulled out of the bag was a really basic photo frame made from a cheap and unpleasant material.
There was also some junk mail, like a medical chart. It's kind of cool, but completely unnecessary since our region's clinics switched to electronic medical records last year and gave us the paper copies.
When I dug into the bag, I found a big bath sponge in the shape of a mouse, along with two smaller sponges for washing my little one in the shape of a duck and an apple. These sponges are made locally in Yaroslavl, and I'm not sure if I'll ever use them.
This is everything you get in the bag. Honestly, I was expecting some extra goodies, like a lightweight jacket or a fleece-lined one. It would be awesome to have some care products, like baby wash, lotion, shampoo, cotton pads, and diapers. Oh, and a toy or two wouldn't hurt either - a rattle, a teether, or a comforter would be great. I'm looking forward to the upcoming additions, like the sleeping bag, shopping bag, and feeding bottle. Too bad I didn't get the sleeping bag.
I know this review might come across as negative, but honestly, I'm just not impressed. Some people might say, 'Well, at least you got something for free, so be grateful.' And I appreciate the effort, I really do. But it feels like this bag is just a token gesture, without much thought put into what new parents really need. It's like they just grabbed the cheapest stuff they could find. So, I'll give it a solid 3 out of 5, and hope that future versions will be more considerate of what young parents really want.
Thanks for reading!
