How Muse Blew Me Away at Their Concert

summarizeEditor's Summary

I never thought I'd be a Muse fan, but after attending their concert, I'm hooked. The energy of the crowd, the band's performance, and the music itself all combined to create an unforgettable experience. If you're a fan of rock music or just looking for a new band to check out, Muse is definitely worth considering.

I went to a Muse concert because of Eminem... Yeah, I wanted rap, but I got rock instead. And I got it in a major dose. I've never been a fan of the band, I'd only heard one of their songs, but it really stuck with me.
How I ended up at a Muse concert
It's a crazy story, just like everything that happened to me on this trip... I still can't believe it all happened. I'll write a more detailed review of the event later.
So, out of curiosity, I looked up where and when Eminem was performing. I stumbled upon this insane combo that combined everything I love: the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi (I'm also super into F1) and the country itself, which I adore and visit often! The F1 race takes place over a few days, and in the evenings, there are concerts. And among them was a Muse concert.
I've already written about my experience at Eminem's concert here. The next day was the Muse concert. I thought after Eminem, everything would be off, but the next day I found myself witnessing a Hollywood film shoot with Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem.
After that, in a state of shock, we headed to the Muse concert.
About the band Muse
Muse is a British rock band that formed in 1994. The band consists of three members:
lead vocalist and guitarist Matthew Bellamy, bassist and backing vocalist Chris Wolstenholme, drummer Dominic Howard. Before their current name, the band had different names. Here's how they got their current name:
"When you live a creative life, you can't help but think about muses," Matthew explained later. "That's why I named my band Muse."
I remembered a funny incident that gives you an idea of the band's sense of humor. On an Italian TV show, they were asked to sing along to a backing track. They didn't like the idea and decided to protest by switching places. The drummer sat at the keyboards, the drummer became the lead singer, and the bassist took over the keyboards. And the funny thing is that no one noticed the switch, and the show was broadcast on TV, with the drummer giving an interview as if he were the lead singer. You can find this video online; I'd seen it before and remembered it during the concert, as I got the members mixed up myself).

My impressions of the Muse concert
I have to say, we've always tried to get to the concert early to get a good spot. But this time, we decided to chill and grab some upgrade tickets to the fan zone instead. We'd already figured out how to get into the Eminem fan zone ages ago, and by the time we got to Muse, it was a lot harder to get in. I managed to sneak in, though! The upgrade tickets for Muse were actually cheaper than Maroon 5's, which was weird.
It cost us around $18 for the two upgrade tickets, on top of the cost of our already-purchased concert tickets.
We managed to get into the Golden Circle (the fan zone) about an hour before the concert started. It looked like there was plenty of space, but there were still a lot of people.
But the closer we got to the stage, the more packed it got. Looking out into the distance, it was already pretty packed.
Muse concert in Abu DhabiI've noticed at previous concerts that most people tend to stand to the left of the stage, and then move in a bit. So we decided to stand to the right, which ended up being a pretty funny situation - it reminded me of a story I told at the beginning of this review.
I have to admit, I'd never really seen Matthew Bellamy perform live before, so when the first song started, I was taking pictures of the bassist for ages 😄
But, I started to suspect that something was off) Turns out, the lead singer was standing to my left for most of the concert. But sometimes he'd come over to my right or stand in the center. And I was just a little to the right of center. Looking at the photos, it looks like I'm standing farther away than I actually was. The stage was pretty close up.Around me, the atmosphere in the crowd was incredible.
Everyone was singing along to their songs. Some guy came up and was literally on the verge of tears, and you could totally understand why - when you're face to face with your idol, you want to cry from happiness. I have to admit, I didn't expect the live music of Muse to blow me away like that. The music itself is already pretty powerful, and then you add the live equipment on top of that! It's not just watching it on TV at home, here my chest was vibrating and my ears were almost ringing, but it was actually really enjoyable and intense, and I got goosebumps. MuseWhat really impressed me was the lead singer Matt Bellamy's vocals. I'm a fan of falsetto in general, but here it sounded absolutely incredible, especially in my favorite song. And when they played it, I was singing along at the top of my lungs - I didn't care that I couldn't hit the high notes, I just couldn't help myself.
I also didn't hold back at the Eminem concert, and it was actually pretty funny to see people's reactions in the crowd and hear my own voice standing out from the rest) But with Muse, it was different - the music was so loud that it drowned out everything else.
I also liked the stage design. There was this huge head that spun around the stage.
Then they added some fire. There were also a bunch of other light effects, and at the end, they shot off this paper confetti thingy - I'm not even sure what to call it.The lead singer was singing and playing the guitar.
Muse reviewHe was completely immersed in music. Muse concert in Abu Dhabi I discovered for myself that, it turns out, I know more of their songs than I thought. Too bad I couldn't attach the music, I'll leave the names of the songs that I especially liked (and I'm sure you've heard them too, even if you're not a fan of the band):Hysteria,Uprising,In December 2009, the Vatican, using the Myspace Music service, published a list of musical compositions that could "reach the hearts of benevolent people." In this hit parade, alongside Mozart and the disc of Pope Benedict XVI, Muse was included with the composition "Uprising."
It was under this song that the band members swapped places on Italian TV and no one noticed).
Thought Contagion.Actually, they have a lot of hits and songs that grab you too, but my love is Supermassive Black Hole. I first heard the song in 2008 in the movie Twilight, at the moment when the Cullens were playing baseball.
I loved the song so much that I re-watched that part of the movie multiple times. I even downloaded a video clip from the movie under this song to watch my favorite part again and again.
Here's a clip from the concert:
I accidentally covered the speakers with my hands and the sound was like that(
I was waiting for the concert to start when they would play it. It came on somewhere in the middle, after which I happily left for the back of the fan zone, closer to the dance floor.
I have to say, it was pretty awesome to be able to enjoy the concert without all the chaos and crowds, just looking over the fence at tens of thousands of fans in the main concert area. And that's when it hit me - this amazing feeling of just letting go and enjoying the moment: the incredible voice, the amazing music that just spoke straight to my soul. It all felt like a dream, because let's be real, I wasn't exactly planning on being a fan, and yet here I was, standing in the fan zone at a Muse concert. Everyone around me was happy, singing along to the songs. It was like a winter wonderland back home, but here it was warm and cozy... I just can't even put it into words.
I'm so glad I ended up at their concert - it was totally awesome!
