I'm a total instant coffee junkie, and I've tried my fair share of single-serve packets. Monarch's Lavender and Raspberry flavors are my go-tos, but I was really looking forward to trying their Cherry variant. I have to admit, I was expecting a lot more from this one.
The Basics:
Price - 21 rubles. Weight - 13.5 grams. Shelf life - 18 months from the date of manufacture. Manufactured in - Russia. Where to buy?Marketplaces and large retail chains.
Monarch's packaging is sleek and eye-catching, with a nice design. The flavor sounds intriguing, and I'm curious to try it. I love the way they've presented this product.
Ingredients and Details
Sugar, glucose syrup, coconut oil, instant coffee powder, stabilizers, milk protein, salt, emulsifiers, flavorings (contains lactose), and an anti-stick agent.
The packaging has a tear-off strip, but I had to use scissors to open it - it's quite tightly sealed.
Content
It's a standard powder mix, but the amount is less than what I'm used to from other brands. I was expecting a bit more coffee powder, to be honest.
Flavor
The cherry flavor is fake, and it's not even close to natural. I also detected a hint of alcohol in the taste. To be fair, the flavor is not unpleasant, but it's just not what I was expecting.
Preparation
I brewed the coffee in a large mug to get a good dose. I poured in hot water and stirred it - just like usual. However, this time the coffee turned out to be extremely watered down. There's no foam, not even a hint of it. The flavor is not even remotely similar to coffee, and it tastes mediocre.
My Verdict
I love Monarch's 3-in-1 coffee for its smooth, creamy taste. Unfortunately, their Cherry variant is a disappointment. The fake cherry flavor and coconut oil overpower the coffee taste, making it unpalatable. The only plus is that it's not overly sweet. The coffee is incredibly weak, and there's no unpleasant aftertaste. Overall, it's drinkable, but I was expecting more from Monarch.
Final Thoughts
For me, the taste is a solid 3 out of 10. It lacks the creamy texture and foam that I'm used to. I won't be buying this again.
