Winter Horses Cross-Stitch Kit by Alisa Art

I'm a total beginner, but this cross-stitch kit had me hooked from the start. The winter horses design is just too cute - it's perfect for both newbies and seasoned crafters. What I love is that the kit comes with high-quality fabric, threads, and super clear instructions, making it an awesome value for money.

A Perfect Miniature for a Quick Sewing Project

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm still hooked on Alisa's winter series of miniatures, and for good reason. These tiny projects are perfect for taking a break from bigger sewing jobs, but they're also great for getting a quick result. I love making miniatures because I get instant gratification, and this series delivers just that. The simplicity and charm of these miniatures make them ideal for trying out new designs or techniques without committing to a larger project. Plus, they're easy to complete in no time. One set includes everything you need to get started, including the pattern, fabric, and floss. The pattern is color-coded and symbolic, making it easy to follow along. The fabric is standard Aida 14 count, providing full coverage and a stiff texture that's easy to work with. I've tried a few different miniatures from this series, and I've been impressed with the quality and value for money. Overall, I think this series is a great way to practice your sewing skills and get a sense of accomplishment without committing to a big project.

Hello!
I still love Alisa's winter series of miniatures, and for good reason. These small projects are perfect for taking a break from bigger sewing jobs, but they're also great for getting a quick result. I usually make miniatures because I love the instant gratification, and this series is ideal for both cases.
The beauty of these miniatures lies in their simplicity and charm. They're not too big, not too small, and they're easy to complete in a short amount of time. This makes them perfect for those who want to try out a new design or technique without committing to a larger project.
Where to Buy and Price
I bought a set of 5 on Ozon, and it was a great value for the price. One set cost me around 300 rubles, which is cheaper than buying them separately. Individual sets usually cost around 500 rubles, so I was happy with the deal.
The set includes everything you need to get started, including the pattern, fabric, and floss. The pattern is color-coded and symbolic, making it easy to follow along. The fabric is standard Aida 14 count, which provides full coverage and is quite stiff, making it easy to stretch and work with.
The floss is 15 colors, and I'm happy with the value for money. I usually use Gamma floss, and I've had no complaints about it. There can be some color variation between batches, but that's not a big deal for me.
Content
The pattern in this set is well-designed and visually appealing. The use of color and symbolism makes it easy to follow along, and the design is clear and concise. The border stitches were a game-changer - they added so much depth to the design without making it look too complicated.
Techniques
I was impressed by the variety of stitches used in this set. You've got the full cross-stitch, half-cross stitch, and even some two-thread and one-thread stitches. The use of one-thread stitches really paid off, as it added a lot of depth and dimension to the design.
Overall Impression
I have to say, I was blown away by the 'Loshadki' design. I'm not a huge fan of single-thread stitching, but the designer's use of it here really paid off. And despite the small size of the project, I was able to create a really three-dimensional effect by using a lot of one-thread stitches. If I had used two-thread stitches instead, it would have looked a lot flatter.
One thing that really stood out to me was the backstitching. I'm not a fan of doing it, to be honest - it's always a bit of a chore after you've finished the main stitching. But in this case, the backstitching really made the design pop. There were so many 'straw' stitches in the trees, and they were a real challenge to do without getting tangled up. I did make a couple of mistakes, but it was worth it in the end.
Before:
And after the contour:
I have to admit, I struggled a bit with this project. I kept making mistakes and having to rip it out. Plus, I often forgot to complete a stitch somewhere, which I'd have to go back and fix later. Despite the issues, I managed to finish it, and I only used 7 shades on the organiser - the one I messed up the most, so I just cut it out with a scissors.
I'm really happy with the result; it turned out beautifully and atmospherically - just like winter. I often go for walks near the stables during the winter, so the scenery feels kind of familiar to me.
I'd definitely recommend buying this!
