My Pancake Perfection: A Million Prize Skillet Review

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm still grinning from ear to ear after using this skillet for a week. The build quality is top-notch, and the non-stick coating is a total game changer. I was a bit skeptical about the price, but I gotta say, it's worth every penny. The handle with bamboo coating is lightweight and comfortable to hold, and the ergonomic design makes it a joy to cook with. But what really caught my attention was the battery life – it lasts way longer than I expected. I've already used it to whip up a stack of fluffy pancakes for my family's Maslenitsa celebration, and they were a total hit. The only downside is that the package included some dry cookies that I could've done without, but that's a minor complaint. I've been using this skillet nonstop since I got it, and I'm thoroughly impressed with its performance. It's perfect for cooking up big batches of food, and the non-stick coating makes cleanup a breeze. I've even used it to sear some steaks, and the results were amazing. The skillet is a bit pricey, but trust me, it's worth every penny. It's a game-changer for any home cook, and I highly recommend it.

What's a Maslenitsa celebration without a stack of fluffy pancakes?
I earned this skillet as part of the Million Prize program, which offered a range of items to choose from. The skillet was the most expensive option at 1800 points, but I was eager to try it out.
The package included four cookies, but I wish they'd given me something new instead of those dry Temptation cookies again.
This time, they included branded plastic bags with the orders, which was a nice touch.
The skillet comes in a big, thick ziplock bag, and there's an extra bubble wrap bag for added protection.
At first, I thought the handle was removable, but it's just taken off for shipping, otherwise it'd take up a lot of space. The handle with bamboo coating is lightweight, comfortable, and not slippery.
One thing that caught my eye was the hole on the handle, but I don't hang pans anywhere - they're stored in the lower cabinet of my kitchen suite. When I ordered this pan, I made sure to read its specs and description carefully.I've got an induction cooktop installed in my kitchen, which means not all cookware is compatible - only the ones that say '... and for induction cooktops'.
As for this pancake pan, the description simply stated that it's suitable for all types of cooktops.
The color of this pan is a bit unusual for me - it's a white with a speckled pattern.
It's a relatively thin pan, not too heavy, and interestingly, there are no indicators on the bottom about which cooktops it's compatible with.
I used a simple screw to attach the handle, and I had to use a crosshead screwdriver to do it. I managed to attach the handle myself. The handle attachment is solid, and the handle doesn't wobble around. If needed, I can just tighten the screw a bit. Here's what my pancake skillet looks like. The handle is almost 19 centimeters long, which is a normal length for me. I have to say, I really like the handle - it feels great in my hand. The skillet itself is huge for me - it's 28 centimeters in diameter.I had to pour the batter onto the biggest zone of my stovetop to cook the pancake, or else the skillet would be half off the heat zone.
The skillet is designed specifically for pancakes, and it's almost borderless.I love pancakes, and I make them often - although lately, I've been making more crepes.
I was worried that the pancakes would stick, flip poorly, and not come off... You don't know until you try it! I decided to play it safe and add a tiny bit of sunflower oil to the center of the pan... I carefully spread the oil around the pan with a brush. And the oil just split into tiny droplets, like mercury! The dough is ready, I made it a bit thicker than usual, hoping that it would be less likely to stick, and I added a bit of sunflower oil to the dough too, but I always add it, just a couple of tablespoons per liter of milk. I was worried for nothing, nothing stuck to the pan, and I didn't add any more oil. The pancakes are cooking perfectly! I flip the pancake with a spatula. I have to admit, I was struggling to make a huge pancake that would fit on my pan, and to be honest, these big pancakes wouldn't even fit on a plate, so I'd have to get out the cake stand...
But then I tried making a huge pancake and ended up with... well, let's just say a mini pancake <)</em>
Do you guys know how to make marbled pancakes? My grandma taught me how to do it, back in the day it wasn't exactly the most hygienic way, but it was fun...
Basically, you just take a splash of cold water and spray it onto the pancake when you're about to flip it, and voila! You get a marbled effect.
Nowadays, of course, no one sprays water from their mouth, we have these handy little spritzers instead, just a quick spritz and you're good to go <)</em>
I'm a big fan of pancakes with condensed milk and sour cream.
Pancakes with condensed milk and some berries are a great option, ideally with some blueberries, but they were out of stock, so I settled for raspberries.
Classic with sour cream! I've already told you about the Million Prize Maslenitsa Set. I'll also tell you about the plates (with a few flaws) and the baking set, which I haven't seen any downsides to yet. The Million Prize pancake griddle is great! I liked it, the quality is excellent, but there's a 'but' - why is it so huge...
I don't regret spending 1800 points, but I do wish it was a bit more compact.
Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase and I think it's a great addition to my kitchen.
One thing that might be worth noting is that the handle can get a bit hot when you're cooking, so be careful not to burn yourself.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the pan can be a bit tricky to clean, especially if you're using a lot of oil.
However, with a little bit of elbow grease and some soap, it comes out looking like new.
So, if you're in the market for a new pancake pan and you're looking for something that's both durable and easy to use, I would definitely recommend checking out the Million Prize pancake griddle.
