A Holiday Show That's a Mixed Bag for Kids

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm still trying to figure out what to make of the Mask Theater's holiday show, 'How to Light the Christmas Tree.' It's a pretty standard tale, but the goofy snowmen stole the show. My kid loved their antics and the fact that they cracked jokes and interacted with the audience. However, the dark sorceress, Morgana, might be a bit too intense for younger kids. Overall, it's a show that's worth watching, but it's not a must-see. The goofy snowmen were the highlight of the show, and the set design was impressive with bright and colorful decorations that really added to the festive atmosphere.

We stumbled upon the Mask Theater's holiday show, 'How to Light the Christmas Tree,' and I'm still trying to figure out what to make of it.
The story's about snowmen helping Snow Maiden light the tree while the wicked sorceress Morgana tries to stop them. It's a pretty standard tale, but the goofy snowmen stole the show.
My kid loved the snowmen's antics, and they even cracked jokes and interacted with the audience. That's always a win in my book.
But Morgana, the dark sorceress, might be a bit too intense for younger kids. I'm a rocker mom, so what do I know, but I think it's worth noting.
My kid enjoyed it, but I'm not sure if it's the kind of show that'll leave them begging for more. The 'dark' theme might scare off some little ones, and that's a shame.
The show had some cool illusions, like levitation and chains, courtesy of magician Alviyan (Sergey Vorontsov). I loved watching him work his magic.
They were interesting, but complex and not exactly festive. Seeing Snow Maiden trapped in chains was both sad and heart-wrenching. Not exactly what I'd call 'holiday cheer.'
I was a bit disappointed with the costumes - they lacked a bit of magic and festivity. I mean, come on, the magician shouldn't show up in jeans and a t-shirt.
For a kids' show, I'd have liked more music and dancing - kids love singing, dancing, and participating in the show. It's what makes it special.
Of course, the show wouldn't be complete without Santa, who wished everyone a happy new year and forgave Morgana. That's always a nice touch.
Each kid left with a chocolate gift from Santa and Snow Maiden. It's the little things that count, right?
I want to give a shout-out to the theater's comfortable seating and great acoustics. The view is excellent from anywhere in the hall.
The theater's corridors are adorned with beautiful Venetian masks. It's a nice touch, but I'm not sure if it's relevant to the show.
The show's about an hour long, and with its fast-paced plot, time flies by. It's a good thing, too - I'm not sure if kids would sit still for that long.
They claim it's 0+, but I think it's more suitable for kids 3+. That's my two cents, anyway.
