I stumbled upon the TV series 'Landys. Such Gentle Love' on streaming platforms back in winter 2025, but I wasn't really in the mood to watch it at the time.

I thought it wouldn't be my cup of tea, and I'll explain why.

Fast forward to when I was browsing online for TV shows and movies, and I came across an article that said 'Landys' had made it to the top and that people were raving about it, calling it a must-watch.

That's when I decided I must have missed something, and I decided to give it a try.

I'm sharing my thoughts on watching it.

Plot.

Plot: Katya's a spoiled heiress who's spent her whole life living in luxury and never facing rejection.

She grew up in London, surrounded by comfort and the finer things in life. Leshka, on the other hand, is a humble young man from a working-class family, and his only knowledge of London comes from hearsay.

Katya's got secrets of her own. Before she turns 18, she's got to keep a low profile from those who used to work for her dad. In search of a safe haven, she decides to head to Vologda, where she meets Leshka. The kind-hearted and helpful young man is willing to lend her a hand, as much as he can.

The series consists of 7 episodes, each around 40 minutes long.

In the 8th episode, they talk about the making of the series, how it was filmed, and the actors share their emotions and experiences from working on the set.

Characters.

Leshka (Sergey Gordinichiy) - officer.

Leshka's a young, innocent guy. I find him likable both in appearance and behavior. He's a decent young man who often acts impulsively, but you can forgive him for that, considering his age. He's an open, cheerful guy who believes in love.

Katya (Nika Zdorik) - girl from a high-society family, whose dad is a millionaire.

I was expecting a romantic story, something uplifting, but what I got was a wake-up call.

Kirill (Denis Stepanov) - the would-be groom of Katya.

This guy's a total player, used to getting what he wants and using people to get it. He only cares about Katya because she's a good catch, financially speaking.

Demyan (Vladimir Tyaptushkin) - the local thug and owner of a karaoke club. He's not used to being rejected by women and acts aggressively, forgetting about social norms and morality. He's vengeful if he doesn't get his way, and will make sure to punish anyone who wrongs him.

The actors playing Leshka and Katya deserve applause for their realistic performances. But I've also got to give credit to the other actors, even though they played negative roles that I didn't exactly appreciate. It just goes to show their professionalism, not their personalities.

My impressions.

This show's a musical comedy-drama, and that's all you need to know. There's a lot of music, and sometimes it pops up at the most unexpected moments, changing the whole tone of the story. But then it all comes back to normal, and we're back to a comedy. There's a ton of modern, young music in this show.

I thought I was in for a romantic story, something uplifting. But what I got was a wake-up call.

When reality hits you like a ton of bricks.

I was initially put off by the title - I thought it was going to be a romantic drama, but that's not what the show's about. I mean, I've seen titles like that before, and they always make me think of a certain type of story. So, I didn't watch it when it first came out, thinking it was going to be a bit too 'sappy' for my taste.

But, the cinematography in the show is really great.

I loved the way the show used close-ups and wide shots to create a sense of atmosphere. It's something you see a lot in modern cinema, but here it really worked. Sometimes, I found myself getting lost in the scenery, even though I was watching from the other side of the screen.

I've got to say, I really enjoyed the sense of camaraderie among the characters. It's like they're all in this together, and it's really infectious. I even found myself wanting to be the wife of one of the officers - it's just such a nice, welcoming atmosphere.

It's no wonder the show's rated 18+ - there are some pretty steamy scenes. I mean, they're not explicit or anything, but they're definitely there. And, of course, there's a romantic plotline, but it's not your typical love story.

I was a bit disappointed by the ending, to be honest. I was expecting something a bit more explosive, but it was more of a slow burn, with a bit of a letdown at the end.

But, I suppose that's just the way they wanted to set up the second season. I mean, it's clear they're setting up some big things to happen next time around, and I'm excited to see where it all goes.

My verdict.

I'm really glad I watched the series - it didn't take up too much of my time. It didn't really get under my skin, but it did pique my interest with its setup. I'll definitely be watching the second season now, knowing what to expect.

I'd definitely recommend it, 4 out of 5 stars.
