A Hidden Gem in St. Petersburg: Eliseev's Luxury Experience
Hello, fellow travelers!
I stumbled upon the legendary Eliseev store in St. Petersburg, and let me tell you, it's a real showstopper. This iconic store is a must-visit for anyone in the city, and I'm excited to share my experience with you.
Every tour guide in St. Petersburg raves about Eliseev's, and even recommends just dropping by to take a look. The store's one-of-a-kind atmosphere is truly a sight to behold.
When I visited Eliseev's on New Year's Eve, the energy was electric. Nevsky Prospect was sparkling, and people were dancing and singing along to street performers. It was like the whole city was celebrating together.
Store address:
Nevsky Prospect, 56
Store hours:
10.00-23.00
The store's window display was a highlight of the evening. They had all sorts of toys and figurines on display, including characters from the ballet 'The Nutcracker'. I loved how colorful and three-dimensional they were.
The store itself is located on the ground floor of the building, with a comedy theater above. The basement level is home to a restaurant serving up the chef's own creations. I was impressed by the prices, which were pretty reasonable, if you ask me.
The gourmet shop is a real showstopper, with all sorts of delicacies, booze, baked goods, and even a in-house bakery. I loved browsing the displays, especially since the staff didn't hover over me and let me pick out whatever I wanted for as long as I needed.
The tables are set up in the center of the hall under a palm tree. They're small, designed for 2-3 people. If you've got a big group or want to have a proper lunch, the staff will suggest moving to the restaurant on the ground floor.
They also offer guided tours of the building, but I didn't find out how much they cost. The store's got a super unique, festive vibe going on. People aren't just here to shop, they're here to take selfies and snap pics of the colorful displays.
I was taken aback by this super expensive, yet intriguing gift set – a glass decanter with shot glasses in a stylized egg-shaped case inspired by Fabergé. And right behind that egg, I spotted the real showstopper: a bottle of vodka for half a million rubles – I guess you could say that's a pricey way to live it up.
They also sell black caviar to match – talk about a luxurious pairing! While such delicacies may only be a dream for many, anyone can afford the gift caviar made of confetti.
They sell a ton of sweets to suit any taste, and a lot of souvenirs - it's always nice to get a gift with a story behind it, rather than ordering something from a marketplace.
House-shaped cookies, handcrafted sweets in unusual shapes - everyone can find something they like. The prices, of course, are sky-high, with a kilogram of sweets averaging around 8,000 rubles.
I wanted to buy something here too, and I ended up choosing this chocolate. Of course, 1,000 rubles for a single piece is expensive, but I wanted to bring a gift from St. Petersburg.
I've gotta say, Eliseev's is more than just a store - it's like a gastronomic museum. Everything they sell looks like a work of art, and it comes with a price tag to match. It's definitely an experience you won't forget.
This place is like nowhere else - it's a must-see if you ever find yourself in St. Petersburg.
