My Electric Meat Grinder: Quick but Flawed

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've had this electric meat grinder for 7 years now, and it still looks brand new. I recently broke it out this summer, and after a week of use, I'm impressed with how well it performs. The build quality is surprisingly solid, and the battery life is longer than I expected. However, the packaging is super thin and not very sturdy, which makes me nervous about shipping it. The attachments are made of thin metal and are prone to bending, which is a major concern. The buttons are easy to confuse, which could lead to damaging the motor. There are strong splatters when processing berries, which can be a real pain. The construction of the vegetable slicer module is flimsy, and the grinder is a bit loud, which might be a problem for some users. Overall, it's a decent grinder, but it's not without its issues.

I bought this meat grinder back in 2016, and it's been collecting dust ever since. But I finally broke it out this summer, and I'm glad I did, because after 7 years of nothing happening to it, everything still looks brand new. I figure this review is still relevant, since meat grinders are still being sold.
It's been a while since I last used my electric meat grinder, but I'm glad I decided to dust it off this summer.
Packaging
PackagingThe packaging is pretty thin and not very sturdy – it's below average. Inside, there were no foam inserts, just the components stacked on top of each other in little bags. The attachments are made of thin metal and are prone to bending. I wouldn't feel comfortable shipping it through our postal service because of how flimsy it is.One thing that stood out to me was the packaging. It's super thin and not very sturdy, which makes me nervous about shipping it.
Kit
The M31.03 kit comes with the meat grinder and an additional "vegetable slicer" module. The meat grinder comes with 1 cutting blade and 3 grinding attachments, as well as 3 spare plastic gears for the shaft, and 2 thin attachments for making sausages. The kit also includes a plastic body and three grinding drums for the vegetable slicer module.

I was impressed with the kit, which includes a meat grinder and a vegetable slicer module. The meat grinder comes with a variety of attachments, including a cutting blade and grinding attachments.

What I Liked
One of the things I liked most about this meat grinder is how quickly it chops everything up. I made meatballs, pepper and tomato sauce, and even ground up some berries. It's really convenient to use.
Strawberry processingIt's also relatively quiet, which is a plus. I was able to use it for extended periods of time without getting tired or annoyed by the noise.
I also liked the little compartment in the back for the cord and attachments – it's super convenient to stash everything in there. Just close the lid and nothing falls out or gets tangled up.
Front and rear views of the main unit The meat grinder feels heavy and sturdy on its rubber feet, like a solid block. The mechanism for locking the grinding modules is also strong and reliable. Together, it creates an impression of a well-made machine. I was particularly impressed with the main configuration with the steel module, which feels solid and reliable.

What Didn't Impress Me
One thing that didn't impress me was the placement of the reverse button. It's mirrored by the main button, which makes it easy to accidentally press the wrong one. The manual says you should only do it after the motor has completely stopped, but there's no protection – the motor keeps spinning forward, and if you press the wrong button, something will start to break.
Control buttons I don't get why they couldn't have made the reverse button separate, not combined with the main one. I'll give them credit, though – this type of button placement is common on meat grinders. Maybe the engineers did it to save on costs, but it's not the most intuitive design.
I'm also not impressed with the design of the attachment-scrapers pull towards the knife on the shaft. It's adjustable with a tiny screw, but the range is super small – if you turn it a millimeter too little, it's loose, and if you turn it a millimeter too much, it's too tight and will start to remove metal shavings during use.
The shaft pushes the attachment out too far I have no idea how much force you need to apply to get it just right. If you take a closer look at the photos, you can see that even when it's not assembled, the scraper is sticking out a bit. Either the screw on the shaft needs to be thinner, or the plastic piece that's pushing it out needs to be redesigned.
Important part of the assembly instructions for the shredder And finally, the play in the barrel of the vegetable slicer module. The construction looks flimsy, and I'm concerned that the teeth of the rotating grater will catch the plastic casing, because even with a small force from one finger, the metal easily comes into contact with the plastic. I wouldn't want to taste vegetables with this ingredient, to be honest.

Conclusion
I'll wrap up by saying that I enjoyed using this electric meat grinder, despite the flaws I mentioned earlier. It does its main job quickly, washes easily, and disassembles just as easily. However, if I had to choose again, I'd definitely look at other brands – this one has some serious design flaws that need to be addressed.
