A Delightful Romper for My Little Step-Daughter

I'm a fan of group buys, and I've snagged some adorable outfits for my little one through them. The prices are always more affordable than in stores, but buying without seeing the product in person can be a gamble. That's exactly what happened when I stumbled upon a Crockid group buy - a brand I'm super fond of and have been buying from quite often. Given my positive experiences with Crockid's products, I didn't hesitate to order the romper that caught my eye.

The romper I fell for was this super cute set consisting of a light pink jumper and milk-white shorts.

When I read about the looped base of the fleece, I didn't think much of it. I imagined something soft and maybe a bit like a mahr (I'm not exactly an expert on knitwear, so that's my fault!). So, you can imagine how surprised I was when I first held the product in my hands and felt the inside!

It feels pretty unpleasant to the touchThe inside felt like coarse sandpaper. The looped texture was definitely noticeable on the inside (yes, the side that's supposed to come into contact with sensitive baby skin!). For contrast, the outside was smooth and pleasant to the touch.

Front and back in comparisonI'm not sure the rough exterior exactly screams 'cozy pajamas' to me. But I held onto hope that a wash would make this tough-looking fabric feel softer and more inviting to the touch. And, yeah, after going through the washing machine, the nap did mellow out to a dense, slightly rough texture. Still, it was a far cry from what I'd consider comfortable PJs for my little girl! Maybe it's something a wicked stepmother would get for her stepdaughter as a 'gift' – something to ensure she's wide awake for a pre-dawn snow-shoveling duty in the middle of winter.What's hiding under the zebra?But, hey, not all hope is lost. First off, the fabric is indeed cotton, pretty thick and breathable, so it's likely to be warm and cozy. Wearing it on its own? Not an option, but layering it over a t-shirt and leggings for added warmth? Totally doable. Second, the loose fit is perfect for moving around freely. And, third, the design is pretty on the eyes. So, I've decided to use this as a layering piece – think chilly summer evenings spent running around the backyard.This romper is a mixed bag, to say the least. While it's not the most comfortable sleepwear set I've ever come across, it does have its redeeming qualities. If you're looking for a cute and affordable romper for your little one, this might be worth considering. Just be aware that the fabric can be a bit rough, and it's best suited for layering rather than wearing on its own.
