A Game-Changing Product, But a Total Pain to Use

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been dealing with seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp for over three years now. After trying various antifungal medications, I decided to give Cinodacap a shot. This aerosol spray contains Pyrithione Zinc, which has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. It's a budget-friendly alternative to the expensive Skin-cap. However, I found it to be a total pain to use due to its high price and large consumption rate. To be honest, I was expecting more bang for my buck, but Cinodacap has been a decent solution for my scalp issues so far.

A Game-Changing Product, But a Total Pain to Use
Hello everyone, I'm glad you're here! I've been dealing with seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp for over three years now.
I'm on a maintenance therapy with various antifungal medications containing Klimbazol, Ketokonazole, Pyrithione Zinc, Pyrokton Olamin, and Selen Sulfide. This includes shampoos, conditioners, and pastes!
On the recommendation of a trichologist, I decided to try Pyrithione Zinc in an aerosol form - Cinodacap. This is a budget-friendly alternative to the expensive Skin-cap.
I bought it from the Stolichki pharmacy chain in St. Petersburg. The cost was 1,179 rubles at the time of purchase. The weight of the product is 58 grams.
Product Description
Cinodacap is an aerosol with Pyrithione Zinc as the main active ingredient at 0.2%. Pyrithione Zinc has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal properties. It reduces the intracellular level of ATP, causing depolarization of cell membranes, leading to the death of fungi and bacteria.
The instructions for Cinodacap are concise but informative. Indications for use include psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, and atopic dermatitis (eczema, neurodermatitis).
Cinodacap is a thick, colorless liquid with almost no smell. And the thickness is a huge minus!
Let's take a closer look at the auxiliary composition of the product:
Accessory substances of the composition include sodium lauryl sulfate, isopropyl myristate, colloidal silicon dioxide, D-panthenol, polysorbate-80, ethanol 70%, and tetrafluoroethane (fluorocarbon 134a).
I think it's safe to say that isopropyl myristate is what gives the product its greasiness. Isopropyl myristate is a complex ester derived from isopropyl alcohol and myristic acid.
But, the presence of D-Panthenol in the formula is a major plus as a moisturizing and soothing ingredient.
Using the product For easier application to the scalp area, a special nozzle is provided. With it, you can apply the product precisely to the scalp compared to the standard nozzle.
Even with this application method, the product still leaves a thick residue on the hair, making it impossible to go out in public with it on. The hair at the roots becomes oily, tangled, and stiff!
I had to use the product during my winter vacation, and it was a lifesaver to have a hat to cover my hair when I went out with my kid or ran errands. I have no idea how I'd manage in the summer, though!
As for the pillow, I'm not even going to mention it! You'll need to either sleep with a protective cap or put a waterproof barrier under your pillowcase and change it daily.
I washed my hair as usual, three times a week. One possible solution is to apply the product twice a day – in the morning and around 4-5 pm – and wash your hair at night, around 10-11 pm.
That way, your pillow will stay clean.
I applied the product in sections and gently massaged my scalp. At first, I only felt the richness of the product on my fingertips, but after massaging the scalp and letting it dry, I started to feel something scratchy and unpleasant under my fingertips.
The scalp didn't feel hot, itchy, or cold. No allergic reactions or unpleasant side effects occurred during my treatment with Cinkop.
Effectiveness I noticed the effect of Cinkop from the very first application - my scalp calmed down, the itchiness decreased, and it felt significantly drier.
However, I found it really hard to wash Cinkop off my hair during the first shampoo - it took at least two rinses.
I used Cinkop for 14 days, using up the entire can. The result of the treatment was that my scalp was free from seborrheic crust, made of sebum and dandruff.
But, I still had to wash my hair as usual. Unfortunately, the effect didn't last long. About a week later, I started feeling the increased oiliness of my scalp, the crust, and the itchiness again.
Everything went back to normal. Cinkop's effect only lasted for a short time on me.
Cinkop spray is a non-budget-friendly but effective solution for fighting seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp. It makes my hair look ridiculously oily, like I haven't washed my head in a month.
My hair gets oily on the pillow and headgear! Cinkop is really hard to wash off my hair. Although, the therapeutic effect is present!
Considering the above, I'm not sure if Cinkop in aerosol form is suitable for seborrheic dermatitis on the scalp. Shampoo with Pyrithione zinc 2% has the same effectiveness and is less unpleasant and painful to use.
And, considering its high price, Cinkop aerosol loses to shampoos with Pyrithione zinc.
That's it from me, thanks for reading!
