A Cartoon That Stands the Test of Time - My Love Affair with Bobik and Barbos
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this cartoon. Almost all my viewings, of course, were from my childhood - it was on TV all the time. This one's definitely a symbol of my childhood, for sure.
Man, I still remember the good old days of watching cartoons. I remember being blown away by my grandfather's boots and how the dogs would walk him on a leash. I was literally open-mouthed watching it.
Another childhood memory that stands out is the time the dogs skidded on the floor that was covered in cereal. Specifically, it was how they quickly tapped their paws to avoid falling. It was actually pretty funny. The dogs eventually lay down, and that was also funny. But when my grandfather slipped and fell, it wasn't so funny anymore.
I still can't watch the scene with the cereal without cracking a smile. The Kukly sketch and the reference to figure skating in my childhood were kind of irrelevant, but this show has given me new impressions. Bobik and Barbos are true figure skaters, and they even demonstrated support - that's what I call 'support on a straight line'. The dogs' faces are so contented. They're true artists!
I mentioned the disaster in the title, but how else can I put it? Bobik and Barbos completely trashed my grandfather's house, and it was literally torn to pieces. It's not uncommon for dogs to do this, and it happens quite often. When dogs get bored in a flat, they try to shake off that boredom. Usually, it gets boring when you lock a dog in a flat for a long time. And then - hold on to your furniture.
I've seen some crazy dog videos online where they're causing more destruction than in cartoons. But that's usually because the owners aren't doing their job as trainers. A well-trained dog knows its place and respects its owner's things - it's not about to trash the house.
Cartoon dogs, on the other hand, are just too human-like. Take the characters from 'Marley and Me' for example. Marley, the Labrador, is the main character and the movie is super emotional, but I've never been a fan of training dogs like that. It's just not my style. In my opinion, it's much easier to train a dog to obey its owner - it's in their nature, after all.
That's why I think it's essential to train your dog, not just let it do its own thing. If you don't, you'll end up with a mess on your hands - and that's not what I call a happy home.
Of course, it's tempting to imagine your dog as a human, but that's not what they're meant to be. They need to know their place and respect their owners. If not, it's more like living hell than a happy life.
I have a special place in my heart for a movie like 'Marley and Me', but that's not how I'd train my dog. No way. I think it's much better to train them to be obedient and respectful - it's not that hard, and it's worth it in the end.
I have to admit, it's pretty funny to think about the adult perspective on this cartoon. As a kid, I used to laugh at the silly antics of the dog in this movie. But now, I'm like, 'Poor old man, he's gonna have to clean up this mess for hours!' Still, it's a great cartoon and you can watch it in different ways, with different thoughts. You don't even need to look for a moral, because everything turns out okay in the end, and that's just great.
As you get older, you start to notice new things in old cartoons. Life changes, and you become more practical and organized. But sometimes you just want to put all that aside and laugh like a kid again. I mean, who wouldn't want to see Bobik and Barbos sliding around on spilled porridge and frantically flailing their paws to avoid getting hit?
