Money Down the Drain, Literally! Air Wick's Hawaiian Rhythm Kiwi and Apple Air Freshener Falls Flat

I've always had a question about air fresheners. With two furry friends living in our apartment - our cat Tisha and our little furball Yuma - it's a must to have a good air freshener. They're always using the litter boxes in one of our two bathrooms, and I need something that's not only nice-smelling but also budget-friendly, eco-friendly, and hypoallergenic. I've always been a fan of a particular brand that had the perfect scent - a mix of peach and lemon - but they've been out of production for years. So, I've been trying out different air fresheners from time to time. Most of them are just okay, but then I stumbled upon this amazing one from Glade. However, it was out of stock for a while, and I ended up buying this Air Wick "Hawaiian Rhythm. Kiwi and Apple" thing. Let me tell you, it's the worst air freshener I've ever bought.

I bought this at the Auchan store during the pandemic. The air fresheners were all wrapped up, so I couldn't smell them before buying. I took a chance and bought it on sale for 70 rubles. Now, it's priced at around 170 rubles and above. I guess you could say I saved some money...

The bottle is 290ml, and it weighs 240 grams. Just a heads up: this stuff is flammable, so don't spray it near an open flame or throw it in the fire. I learned that the hard way in school. Some of my classmates thought it was funny to light a lighter and spray the air freshener. They ended up setting the school director's hair on fire. It was a real mess. As a result, we got in trouble with the juvenile authorities. So, let me repeat: don't spray air freshener near an open flame (like near a lit stove).

Composition: 15% or more but less than 30%: propellant (a mixture of butane, propane, isobutane); less than 5%: preservative, non-ionic surfactant, fragrance, linalool, lemonene, citronellol.

I was totally misled when I bought the Air Wick "Hawaiian Rhythm. Kiwi and Apple" air freshener. The first time I sprayed it, I knew I'd made a mistake. The smell is cloyingly sweet, like inhaling melted sugar with a hint of honey. Then a strong scent of sweet strawberry appears, but it's so overpowering that you want to open all the windows. Although that wouldn't help. The smell doesn't dissipate for several hours, even with the window wide open. It's like it seeps into every surface. Breathing it in is impossible.

But my pets had other plans, and they didn't care that we only had this air freshener on hand. In the end, I had to spray this monstrosity for three days before I could buy a different one. Although the damage was already done. My cats started scratching, and lesions appeared. The vet said it was an allergic reaction. We treated the lesions with Chlorhexidine. We tossed the air freshener in the trash. We won't be needing that kind of happiness again. From now on, I'll stick with a tried-and-true brand like Glade. I just stocked up on it during a similar sale.
