I'm excited to share my thoughts about this amazing book from Azbukvarik Publishing "About Shapes, Colors, and Comparisons", which has been a great addition to our family's library.

I'd already written a review for another book in the same series, "About Nature" (http://irecommend.ru/content/luchshaya-razvivayush...), and I thought it would be unfair to stop there, since the second book is practically just as great.

This one arrived at our place partly because we'd given the nature book to our daughter on her first birthday last summer. It came without a crayon set, and since we and our daughter both loved the content of the nature book, I decided to just order another book from the series and use the crayon set for both of us.

The topic of the book seemed really relevant and interesting. I ordered it in the fall, when our daughter was about 1.1 to 1.2 years old...

We'd already had a book from another publisher about shapes, but it was pretty basic, with five buttons and not very detailed pictures from cartoons, and the rhymes weren't great either.

So, we already had some understanding of shapes (thanks to the sorting games), and colors (we had separate little books on those, and I'd constantly point out colors and shapes to our daughter in conversation).

But this book still really impressed us, and it became a nice summary of what we already knew, as well as a source of new knowledge.

The book is made of thick cardboard, the pages are held together by a big spring. On the right side of the pages, there's a sound module with buttons. The edges of the pages are rounded. The quality of Azbukvarik's books is top-notch as always!

The back of the thing has all the info you need, including how to replace the batteries.

The book has 8 pages in total. It's divided into the following sections:

- Colors (first three pages)
- Shapes (next three pages)
- Opposites (two pages with four pages each: big - small, fast - slow, right - left, top - bottom, on - in, over - under)

The color pages are designed so that one big image takes up the whole page, featuring items and characters from the three colors you're supposed to learn: blue - red - yellow, green - brown - purple, and black - white - orange. The details in the image might be other colors, but it still looks realistic.

Similarly, the shapes are grouped into threes: rectangle - circle - triangle, oval - rhombus - square, and semi-circle - star - crescent.

These images with opposite concepts also share a common storyline...
This book comes with a sound module that narrates 30 different tasks, which need to be completed on the corresponding pages.
The tasks are different, but in my opinion, there's a bit less variety in this book compared to "nature", most tasks here are still "find and circle" or draw (no counting tasks, only one for association, in colors). Although, of course, any mom can come up with a ton of other questions using the available images), the pictures are informative enough. So, I'm not lowering my rating for the book because of this. It's just that out of these two books in the series, I prefer the one about nature a bit more, and I think my daughter likes this one the other way around...
To listen to a task, you just need to press the corresponding button with an image on the panel to the right of the page.Each task is accompanied by a short, pleasant tune.
The sound quality is great, the batteries haven't changed yet (after a year of use), and I even stuck a scotch tape over the speaker to prevent it from being too loud.
The images are also very good, quite detailed and colorful. The pictures in this book feature only animal characters, which is different from the book 'About Nature', where kids were also the main characters.
My daughter isn't old enough to use the marker yet, but she points out things with her fingers and enjoys looking at the pictures and answering my questions about the book.
It's worth noting that the online stores list the book's age range as 3-7 years, but it was interesting for my daughter from the age of one, and it's still engaging today...
Of course, there's a lot more to come - developing fine motor skills with the magic marker!
My daughter often takes out these two books after playing and asks me to look at them with her.
The book costs around 350 rubles, and I ordered it from mytoys, but I'm not sure if it's still available. I think the price is reasonable for such a great book.
Clearly, I highly recommend the book 'Forms, Colors, and Comparisons' from the Azbukvarik publisher! It's a high-quality, engaging, beautiful, and educational book!
