Hello again!
I'm still on cloud nine after writing about my first e-reader love, the PocketBook 624. And, of course, I have to mention my not-so-great experiences with the Onyx Monte Cristo.
Now, I'm excited to share my thoughts on the PocketBook 628!
This e-reader has been my go-to for a while now, and I'm loving every minute of it.

* The packaging is super minimalist - thin, simple, with a picture of the device, its logo, and name. Nothing extra.

I've got to say, this e-reader has an incredibly cool color - it's almost like a bright, fiery red.
What really caught my eye is the color. Most readers are white, gray, or black, so this one stands out.
xa0
* The cover is made from a super-soft plastic that's a real pleasure to touch. It's like velvet, so it picks up fingerprints nicely. But cleaning it is a breeze, so that's not a problem at all.
xa0
PocketBook 628 looks super stylish and compact. And it really is - the frame is narrow, and the space around the buttons is minimal compared to my old model.
This is a total game-changer, because a small, lightweight device makes reading so much more comfortable.
Plus, it fits perfectly in any of my clutches, even the smallest ones.
xa0
On the back, there's the brand logo. Everything is top-notch, and the colors don't fade or peel off.
When you use it, it doesn't creak or squeak or anything like that.
xa0
* I mostly use touch controls, but in a car, it's way more convenient to use the physical buttons for turning pages (2 and 3 buttons).
So, it's great that the manufacturer didn't ditch the physical buttons, even with the touchscreen display.
xa0
Buttons are customizable, which is super useful. You can set the feature you need most to be easily accessible.
xa0
* The screen of this e-reader is essentially hidden, which provides an extra layer of protection. If it were to fall face down, it would hit the plastic casing, not the glass.
xa0
* On the bottom edge, you'll find a micro USB port (why not USB Type-C, you ask? Luckily, it doesn't need to be charged that often...), a Micro SD card slot, and a power button.
xa0
* The screen has a resolution of 1024*758 pixels, with a 6" diagonal.
E Ink Carta - this is one amazing display. When reading on it, my eyes don't get tired at all, just like when I'm reading a high-quality paper book (and even better!). You can customize the paper tone, font size, and style to your liking.
And it even has backlighting!
It's super easy to adjust, and there's also an auto-adjust feature.
xa0
* You can add bookmarks, make notes, highlight passages, and basically replace your paper book with this e-reader (and it's way better for me!).
xa0
* I love that you can set a book cover on the lock screen for the book you're currently reading - it makes using this e-reader even more enjoyable!
xa0
* There are even games!
But honestly, I have no idea why they're included - I don't need them!
They're slow and pretty much useless.
xa0
* Supported formats:
PDF, PDF (DRM), EPUB, EPUB (DRM), DJVU, FB2, FB2.ZIP, DOC, DOCX, RTF, PRC, TCR, TXT, CHM, HTM, HTML, MOBI, ACSM, CBR, and CBZ
I'm seriously impressed - there's no way to read more than this!
The verdict: this e-reader reads everything!
I mostly read in Fb2 and Epub formats. Occasionally, I'll read in Doc and Pdf, but only if I can't find the first two formats.
All formats load quickly and smoothly, without any hang-ups or freezing.
* How do you transfer books to the reader?
1. Buying from the BookLand store (haven't tried this yet);
2. Downloading to my computer and transferring via cable (this is how I usually do it);
3. Dropbox (haven't tried this, but I know it's an option);
4. 'Book via email' - this is my current method! I assign my e-reader's email address, then send the downloaded file from my computer or smartphone to that address, and voilà - the book appears on my device.
* The autonomy is a real plus! And it still has juice even when I'm reading in marathon sessions? The battery life is impressive - it lasts for two weeks, give or take, before it's about a third depleted.
* I love that the manufacturer has thoughtfully included covers for their e-readers - they're top-notch quality and look great. I even bought one from the WB store.
I've even seen an intelligent cover in action. What's more, it doesn't block any openings and doesn't compromise the stylish and lightweight design of the device. It's a match made in heaven.
Verdict:
I've gotta say, I'm thoroughly impressed with the PocketBook 628! It's ridiculously easy to use, super compact, and lightweight. Plus, it's a real value for money - I got mine for a steal!
I've got to admit, I was blown away by the build quality. It's solid, it's sturdy, and it just feels premium. And the battery life? Forget about it - it lasts longer than I expected!
I'd highly recommend this device to anyone in the market for a new e-reader. It's a game-changer, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a fan of PocketBook. It's the real deal!
Thanks for reading, and I hope you found my review helpful! If you've got any questions or comments, feel free to leave them below.
