A Club That Didn't Quite Hit the Mark

summarizeEditor's Summary

We got this club for our 12-13 kg pup, a small-medium breed that loves to chew through toys in record time. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The colorful design is fun, but that's about where it ends. For the price, we expected better build quality and a more durable design that could withstand our pup's enthusiasm.

A Club That Didn't Quite Hit the Mark
Our pup weighs in at 12-13 kg - not tiny, but not huge either. She's a small-medium breed, give or take.
She's a fan of Purina Van food for mini pups, while giving the dry food for full-sized dogs the cold shoulder (those big kibbles are probably just too much for her). And although she's got decent teeth, they're still capable of chomping through toys in record time - like that pork knuckle she devoured in two days.
We'd actually seen this little club thingy at the Magnit store, but it was way too small for our pup - it was designed for cats, of all things! So when they brought out a slightly bigger version (7 cm) for dogs, I snapped it up in a heartbeat.
This club caught my eye right off the bat - it's super colorful, and the bell inside was a nice touch. Our pup loves interactive toys, and I thought she'd love the bell just as much.
The bell inside
Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations.
Our pup's not a fan of the bell - it actually kinda freaks her out. She'll look at the club with this 'what's wrong with you?' expression, and just lose interest.
'Play with your own toy' I tried everything to get her to play with it - I'd toss it around, roll it on the floor, even put it under her nose. But nope - she just wasn't having it.
It ended up collecting dust in a corner for ages. I thought maybe she just needed to get used to the sound of the bell, but it turns out that wasn't it.
So I had an idea - what if the bell was the problem? Maybe the metal sound was just too harsh for her sensitive ears?
So I removed the bell, and guess what? Our pup finally showed some interest!
We played with it for a bit, and then I left her to her own devices. But a few hours later, I came back to find that she'd managed to chew the club to pieces. Yep, you read that right - she destroyed it in no time.
Game over for the club. I mean, it's not like I didn't see it coming - after all, if she can take down a pork knuckle in two days, a little club toy stands no chance.
So here's the takeaway: this club is only for the smallest of pups with the weakest of teeth. If your pup weighs more than 10 kg, forget it - this toy's not for them.
I'd love to see a bigger version of this club, one that's designed for medium-sized breeds like ours. Maybe with a softer material or a different sound that's less jarring. But as it stands, this club is a no-go for us.
It's a shame, really - I was so excited to see our pup enjoy it. But I guess that's just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.
Overall, I'd give this club 2 out of 5 stars. It's not a bad idea, but it just didn't quite work out for us.
Maybe you'll have better luck with it, though! If you've got a tiny pup with a gentle disposition, you might just find that this club is the perfect fit.
But for us, it's a hard pass.

live_helpFeatured FAQ

Is this club suitable for small dogs?

Unfortunately, no. Despite being marketed for small dogs, our 12-13 kg pup found it too small. If your pup is smaller than ours, it might work, but we can't recommend it for larger small breeds.

Is the bell removable?

Yes, the bell is removable, which is a nice feature. However, it's not the sturdiest part of the club, and we're not sure how long it'll last.

Is the club easy to clean?

Yes, the club is relatively easy to clean. Just wipe it down with a damp cloth, and it'll be good as new. However, the material used is not the most durable, so it might not withstand heavy chewing.

Is the club worth the price?

Honestly, no. For the price, we expected better build quality and a more durable design. While it's not the worst club we've ever seen, it's not the best value for money either.

Can I use this club for my cat?

Actually, yes! This club is designed for cats, and it's a great option if you have a feline friend who loves to chew and play. Just be aware that it's not designed for dogs, so it might not be the best fit for your pup.

Is the club good for mental stimulation?

Unfortunately, no. The club is a bit too simplistic, and it doesn't provide much mental challenge for our pup. If you're looking for a club that'll challenge your pup's mind, this might not be the best option.

Can I return or exchange the club?

Yes, you can return or exchange the club within a reasonable time frame. However, be aware that you'll need to follow the manufacturer's return policy and procedures.

How long does the club last?

Honestly, we're not sure. Our pup chewed through it in a matter of days, and it's not the most durable club we've ever seen. If you're looking for a club that'll last, this might not be the best option.
