My Disappointing Experience with Yves Rocher's Moment de Bonheur L'Eau
I'm still trying to figure out why I bought this underwhelming face wash. My 'moment of joy' was short-lived, that's for sure - Yves Rocher Moment de Bonheur L'Eau.
I made a completely spontaneous purchase the other day while I was out picking up a new body wash at Yves Rocher. As I was browsing the shelves, I caught sight of the perfume section and suddenly I was like, 'I really need to grab a couple of new scents...'
And that's how I ended up with this:

Today I'm going to review Yves Rocher's Moment de Bonheur L'Eau toilet water.
The packaging is solid.
The perfume is encased in a rectangular glass bottle.
The cap looks heavy,
but it's actually made of plastic, so it's light.The fragrance is colored a light green. Right off the bat, I knew the scent would be light, but I didn't expect it to be this light. It's so light that you can barely even smell it. You can only detect it for about 30 minutes after application, and then... nothing. That's a bummer! Maybe it's just not suited for my skin type, and that's why it's trying to escape as quickly as possible. I don't know.
But one of the main characteristics of this perfume is its longevity, and I was really disappointed with that. But I'll still tell you about the scent itself.
I'll start with the bottle. It looks pretty nice.
It's not a work of art or anything, but it's pleasant to hold in your hand.
Usually, the first impression you get from the bottle gives you an idea of what's inside.
My predictions: I was sure I'd be getting a pleasant, light, fresh, and very green fragrance with almost no sweetness and near-universality.
But I was wrong.
Moment de Bonheur L'Eau by Yves Rocher is a scent for women that falls under the floral fruit category.
I was searching for the perfect word to describe this perfume, and... I found it: it's just MEDIUM.
This is a completely unremarkable, very simple, and I'd say lacking floral fruit composition: just three notes!
Let's take a look at the perfume pyramid:
Top note: Apple;
Middle note: Rose;
Base note: Virginian Cedar.
The primary note of this scent is rose. It's so soft and subtle that even those who aren't fond of rose in perfumes might find this one palatable.
Rose sounds great paired with a green, sweet, and slightly sour apple, and that's exactly why I bought this fragrance. It initially caught my attention somehow.
As soon as the salesperson sprayed it on the blotter, I thought: I need to get this! It's the perfect scent for summer (I bought it in early May), with the heat and occasional desire for a simple, uncomplicated, yet pleasant and calming fragrance that won't irritate anyone.
What I heard from the blotter was a gentle rose surrounded by a sweet and sour apple. It's pleasant and fresh.
I immediately pictured the scene: an early morning in the garden. A wooden table sat under a laden apple tree, surrounded by sleepy roses that hadn't yet bloomed. Apples falling onto the table burst open, releasing their sweet juice, which mingled with the subtle, almost imperceptible scent of rose petals... A gentle rain started, and the fragrance lost some of its freshness and lightness.
I was already taking the perfume to the checkout...
And if the scent had stayed pleasant from then on, I'd have been happy, but after applying it to my skin, I was thoroughly disappointed... I have 50ml of 'Moment of Happiness' at my disposal.
The name is certainly over-the-top for this perfume. When I'm wearing it, I don't feel any particular happiness. What I do feel is the urge to wonder why I didn't choose something more interesting. The perfume is quite dull. What is it, anyway?
It starts off fresh and sweet, with a sweetness that's both floral and fruity, and even slightly woody. This delicate sweetness is present throughout the perfume's lifespan on my skin.
The sweetness is subtle, yet somehow honey-like. It's really tasty, and for some reason, sunflowers come to mind...
In principle, it's not bad, but I still crave more freshness and green notes. I can pick up on the scent of a green apple, but it's sweetened.
The base notes feature Virginian cedarwood, which gives the perfume a soft, green aroma with aquatic undertones, but to me, there's still not enough green notes. Very few, in fact.
I'd describe this perfume as a floral-fruity scent with a delicate green aquatic note. It's a simple, almost naive aroma, but somehow pleasant.
This light, unobtrusive, slightly sweet perfume would suit young girls and teenagers pretty well.
I have to say, its staying power on my skin is minimal. And the worst part is, within 10 minutes, the green and freshness notes are completely gone, leaving only a faint pink rose note and a wet, sweet wood scent. What a letdown! The perfume just doesn't last, and I can barely smell it on my hair, clothes, or even my skin.
On the bright side, the scent is subtle and delicate. You can splash it on, drench yourself in it, and it won't overpower you.
I've noticed that the fragrance lingers a bit longer on rainy days. There's something about the rain that makes me smell it on myself for a longer time – it's a faint, subtle scent.
I mostly use this perfume as a spray after showering, or when I don't want to overwhelm those around me with strong, complex scents.
Would I buy it again? No way! This perfume just doesn't fit my style. I'll have to try out some other scents.
My rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
I'd still recommend giving it a try (but only after testing it on your skin first). And if you do decide to buy it, don't do it on a whim – listen to it for a while to make sure you won't be disappointed.
Who knows, maybe Moment de Bonheur L'Eau will find its perfect match.
