Hello everyone!
I've been trying to become a Yandex Bank customer for ages, but it's been a wild ride. The bank's bugs and customer support have been at war with me.
I'm always on the lookout for ways to improve my system, which is basically a mashup of Sber and T-Bank's features and services.
I started keeping an eye on Yandex.Bank back in 2021, and I've been trying to become a customer ever since Yandex.Den'gi became YMoney and moved to Sber.
I'm happy for everyone who's managed to get a Yandex card, set up a working Yandex Pay, and all that jazz – I've only managed to get as far as installing Yandex Go (taxis) and disabling all my domains on Yandex (domain email became paid).

So, way back in 2021, I opened a Yandex card and linked it to Yandex.Taxi.
And then the spam gates of heaven opened!
Yandex sold my data to third parties, but they don't exactly hide it.
But what's even more astonishing is just how massive the scale of it is!You wouldn't believe what Yandex considers marketing and advertising!
In real life, it looks something like this:
If I was researching credit conditions on some bank product – I'd get 10,000 calls from various banks!
If I needed to create a domain email – Yandex itself would be calling me for three months straight!
Just looking for a garage to rent – and I've been getting calls from realtors for six months now!
And so on. Any search query ends up with a bunch of spam calls on the phone number linked to my Yandex ID (I think contextual ads are also involved, but I've killed them with DNS filtering).
Every day, I add 2-9 numbers to my spam and scam databases (my auto-answerer catches, talks to, and records them – I just need to click 'add to category' and send it for review and block via the operator).

So, that was about the spam that came with my Yandex card.
But the cherry on top was that the card wasn't even fully activated, or something.
Most of its functions were inaccessible.
The card was glitchy, didn't work, wouldn't transfer money, and wasn't even linked to my phone number – in short, it was completely non-functional.
I have to say, if it weren't for that photo, I'd think it was just a myth.
But every day, it's like a constant stream of spam I'm wading through as a socially responsible internet user!
The customer support was basically useless, responding at a glacial pace of one off-topic message every three days and accomplishing nothing. The map was still broken.
And it wouldn't delete, and the account wouldn't delete, and at one point, Yandex Pay was completely blocked.
THE FINAL VERDICT
In 2023, I changed my passport. So now I've got some mysterious bank card linked to a useless passport.
I still can't delete it because Yandex Bank is demanding a selfie of me holding my passport!
And they're refusing to give me my account details (which I need to file a complaint with the Central Bank)! Same deal with the selfie of me holding my passport!No thanks! I've had enough problems already!
❗THE MAIN TAKEAWAY
By the way, I've learned something (after talking to two of these 'non-banks': Ozone and Yandex).
If an organization isn't actually a bank, then it's not a bank! I don't know what to call a structure that has a banking license but is set up to do anything but actual banking (Yandex, Ozone, Waldberiz, Ingosstrakh, etc.).
