A Taste of Belarus: My Experience at Vasilki

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently had the chance to try out Vasilki, a popular Belarusian restaurant chain with multiple locations across Minsk and beyond. I'm excited to share my thoughts on this authentic Belarusian cuisine spot. From the cozy atmosphere to the delicious dishes, I was impressed by the overall experience. However, there were a few areas where they fell short. Some dishes can be hit-or-miss, so be prepared for a gamble. Customer support can also be lacking at times, especially during busy hours. That being said, I'd still recommend giving Vasilki a try – it's a great value for the money, and you might just discover a new favorite dish. Just be aware that not all locations have the same level of quality and service, and delivery and shipping options can be limited and not always reliable.

A Taste of Belarus: My Experience at Vasilki
Hello everyone!
I've been meaning to share my thoughts on Vasilki, a popular Belarusian restaurant chain, but it's taken me a while to get my thoughts together. So, let's dive in!
Getting to Know Vasilki
Vasilki restaurants are scattered across Minsk, with many malls hosting their locations, and some standalone spots. They've even expanded beyond Minsk, with branches in Vitebsk, Mogilev, Gomel, Mozyr, Grodno, and Sologorsk.
Here's the full list of addresses:

Koltsevaja, 4 (TRC N3 Plaza)Vasilki restaurants are known for their cozy atmosphere, which is perfect for a family dinner or a night out with friends. Each location has its unique character, but the interior design style remains consistent throughout. You'll find wooden elements, folk motifs, linen napkins, wicker or willow abajour, and old books and fabric toys used as decorations.
Utensils are brought on a special wooden tray with a linen napkin, adding to the warm and inviting ambiance.
The Menu
Vasilki's menu is a treasure trove of traditional Belarusian dishes, with a wide variety of options to suit every taste. The menu is divided into main dishes, special offers, and a separate section for breakfast. You'll find a range of soups, salads, appetizers, pierogies and dumplings, sausages, chicken dishes, pork dishes, beef dishes, and desserts.
Breakfast options include pancakes, omelets, and sandwiches, while the lunch menu features a selection of soups, salads, and hot dishes. Don't forget to check out the daily specials and seasonal offerings.
My Dining Experience
I visited three different Vasilki locations in various malls, and each time, I was impressed by the quality of the food. I ordered the salad with tongue and mushrooms, which was delicious, with crispy bacon adding a nice crunch. However, I found the presentation a bit inconvenient to eat.
Christmas draniki were a hit, with a nice combination of draniki, red fish, and creamy cheese. However, I felt there was too little fish. Draniki with mushrooms were another good option, but I'm not a fan of the sauces served with them.
Service
Unfortunately, my experience with the service was a bit of a mixed bag. One time, everything was perfect, but on another visit, we had to wait a long time for our order, even though the restaurant was fully booked. And, to make matters worse, we encountered a rude staff member.
Verdict
Vasilki is a decent option for trying Belarusian cuisine in Minsk, but the quality of service really depends on the specific location. The food is generally tasty, but I sometimes felt that the prices were a bit too high, considering the simplicity of the dishes. If you're looking for a place to try Belarusian cuisine, Vasilki is definitely worth a visit, but don't expect anything too fancy or creative. It's a good spot for a hearty meal, but if you're looking for something more interesting or are on a diet, you might want to try somewhere else.
