My Toddler's Tooth Decay Nightmare: A Moscow Mom's Lifesaving Find

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'll never forget the day I discovered my toddler was suffering from tooth decay. It was a wake-up call, and I was determined to find a solution. But finding the right dentist in Moscow proved to be a challenge. I breastfed my little one as long as I could, but I had no idea about the risks of 'nursing caries.' It wasn't until I started reading up on it that I realized how serious it was. My toddler's upper front teeth were almost completely destroyed. I was shocked and a little scared, but I knew I had to act fast. I started researching local dentists and reading reviews to find the best one for my toddler.

At 1.5 years old, we visited our local community clinic, but the anesthesiologist seemed clueless. He told us to wait until my toddler was 2 years old before we could do anything. I was shocked - and a bit taken aback.
When we took our toddler to the central city dental clinic at 2 years old, the verdict was clear - four of their upper teeth needed to be removed. It was tough to swallow, and we felt a bit lost.
That's when I discovered 'Malysch i Karlson' clinic, which a trusted friend recommended. And now, I'm happy to recommend it to you too - we were super impressed with the treatment, organization, and price we paid.
SITE: [link].
Getting There.
I highly recommend checking out the clinic's website for directions. To make it easier, here's the lowdown: turn right off Ulof Palme street, just before the yellow high-rise building. Look for the gate and the guardhouse - they'll let you in. Once you're inside the courtyard, you can park your car and look for the entrance.
The clinic's entrance is a bit unassuming, but once you're inside, you'll see a salon on your left. The door you're looking for is just to the left of the salon, in an archway.
The Clinic.
The clinic itself is clean, bright, and cheerful, with a modern setup. They've got a narrow corridor and several rooms, and they even have a TV for the kids to watch while they wait. My toddler was a bit restless, but the staff was super kind and accommodating - they really went above and beyond.
First Visit.
During our first visit, we got a rough plan of treatment and an estimate of the costs. Since my toddler was fussy, we only managed to get a 10-15 second glance at their teeth. Needless to say, we couldn't get any X-rays done. The doctor made a preliminary diagnosis based on this limited information - it was a bit of a challenge, but they did their best.
We had two options: a big, official city clinic with a paid department or 'Malysch i Karlson.' I won't go into the details, but after weighing our options, we chose the latter. I'm glad we did, as we were super impressed with the treatment and the price - it was a total game-changer for us.
Second Visit: Treatment.
The treatment was scheduled for a Sunday, which was convenient for my husband, as he didn't have to take time off work. We got our toddler ready the night before and arrived at the clinic early in the morning. We signed the agreement, and then my toddler was sedated. The anesthesia lasted about 1 hour and 30 minutes to 1 hour and 40 minutes. During this time, they removed two upper teeth, four teeth with pulpitis, and two teeth with caries.
After the procedure, they gave my toddler a bottle of water and a packet of apple juice to drink. The total cost of the treatment was 35,500 rubles, including the anesthesia - I was pleasantly surprised by the price, considering it's Moscow.
My toddler didn't seem to be affected by the anesthesia, except for a bit of fussiness in the car ride home. We gave them some Nurofen when the 'fog' started to clear.
We were super impressed with the treatment and the clinic. We highly recommend it.
