Three Bogatyrs and the Edge of a Sword Falls Flat - A Major Disappointment in the Franchise

summarizeEditor's Summary

As a huge fan of the Three Bogatyrs series, I was really looking forward to the latest installment, but unfortunately, it's a total letdown. The franchise has been a major disappointment since the first four movies, and it feels like the creators are phoning it in at this point. I'm not sure what's going on, but it's clear that the magic is missing. The animation is still decent, but the story is predictable and the jokes fall flat. The movie tries to be family-friendly, but it's just not pulling it off.

Hello there! As a huge fan of the Three Bogatyrs series, I was really looking forward to the latest installment, but unfortunately, it's a total letdown. I've been following the franchise since the first four movies, and each subsequent one has been a major disappointment. I'm not sure what's going on, but it feels like the creators are phoning it in at this point.
Movie Details:
Three Bogatyrs and the Edge of a Sword is a Russian animated film that hit theaters on December 25, 2025. It's the 14th movie in the Three Bogatyrs franchise. I'm starting to wonder what's wrong with the people behind this series - they seem to be trying to milk it for every last drop.
Genre: Comedy, Adventure
Runtime: 1 hour 15 minutes
The Plot. The Bogatyrs are enjoying a peaceful break, waiting for their wives to give birth. But of course, the world can't just leave them alone. Some new threat emerges, and our heroes must rush off to save the day. Meanwhile, their wives are preparing for motherhood - because, as we all know, that's what really matters in life.
The Bogatyrs are busy being heroes, while their wives are busy being pregnant. Because, let's face it, that's what women are meant to do. Meanwhile, the evil Kolivan is up to no good, using his underlings from Baba Yaga's crew to wreak havoc on the kingdom.
The Characters.
The Bogatyrs are notorious for their lack of character growth. Poor Konstantin the Bear is just a shadow of his former self, Alasha is still as clueless as ever, and Kolivan is up to his usual antics. It's like they're stuck in a rut, reliving the same old story over and over. I was expecting to see some real development, but it's just not there.
The Pacing.
I managed to last only 30 minutes of this movie. The most annoying part was when the Bogatyrs promised to be there for their wives, but then rushed off to save the world instead. It's just a jumbled mess of plot threads that don't quite come together.
Every plot thread is dull and unfunny. Old characters show up, but only to make things worse. It's like they're trying to squeeze every last drop out of this franchise, without putting in the effort to make it worthwhile.
The Maternal Propaganda.
It's just strange that all three wives are pregnant at the same time. And of course, Lubava still looks like a teenager. Their storylines revolve around preparing for motherhood, while the brave men save the world. It's like they're trying to push some kind of agenda, but it's not very well done.
The Verdict. This is already the 14th movie in the franchise, and it's clear that the creators have lost their touch. I didn't enjoy it at all, so I'm giving it a solid 1 out of 10 and not recommending it to anyone. Thanks for reading, folks!
