Cabbage Shredder by Hanami

I'm obsessed with my new Cabbage Shredder by Hanami - it's been a total game-changer for home cooks like me. I mean, it's super easy to use: just toss in your cabbage and let the sharp blade do the work. It's perfect for whipping up slaws, salads, and more. The simplicity of its design makes it a great addition to any kitchen, and it's a fantastic value for money. I've used it a few times already, and I'm loving how quickly I can get the job done.

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'll be the first to admit, I was totally skeptical about this shredder when my wife was diagnosed with diabetes and we had to ditch store-bought pickled cabbage. But this little guy has become a staple in our household, and I'm so glad we took the plunge. It's not just about the convenience – it's about the quality of the product and the peace of mind that comes with knowing exactly what we're putting in our bodies. The packaging is still pretty reasonable, even with the price increase, and the best part? It's ridiculously easy to use.

My Unlikely Shredder Savior: A Game-Changer for Home Cooks
After my wife was diagnosed with diabetes, we stopped buying pickled and salted cabbage from stores. But then we stumbled upon this amazing product that's become a staple in our household. It's now stocked on shelves in many stores during the autumn season, and we love it. The convenient packaging in plastic tubs of various sizes is still reasonable, despite the price increase. It's just buy and enjoy.
However, most manufacturers add sugar and various stabilizers, brighteners, and other chemical wonders to their products, besides cabbage, salt, and carrots.
We started making our own pickled cabbage for our household of two. Living in the city, in an apartment with no balcony or pantry, let alone a cellar or basement, our pickling production volumes are small: two jars at most. As we use it up, we pickle a new batch.
Before my health issues, I loved cooking and often made this dish. And shredding the cabbage was always my job. Now, with my mobility impaired, even standing is a challenge, but I still try to shield my wife from kitchen knife work, especially when it's a big job.
Given my current state, I managed to shred the cabbage in fits and starts, with breaks for rest. It took around an hour for a single large jar, and I was exhausted. My increased caution to avoid cutting my fingers also factored in, as diabetes complications can be severe.
While browsing the online catalog of a marketplace for fashion berets for my wife, I stumbled upon an unusual knife. I watched the video attached to the product card and realized this utensil was my savior! The price was also ridiculously low.
The package I received in the pickup point looked like this. A standard cellophane bag with a small sticker - a barcode.
Along with the knife, the bag also contained a label.
No information about the country of origin or manufacturer is provided. However, the suitability of the product for food is confirmed by the Rosstandart logo.
And here's the knife.I've found that the knife is only suitable for right-handed people. The design just doesn't work for lefties, so that's something to keep in mind.Despite the product description saying the handle would be black, I got a red one instead.
But that doesn't affect the functionality at all. The handle is made of stiff plastic and feels comfortable to hold. There's a hole for attaching a thin wire or a piece of string, which makes it easier to hang up.The working part of the knife is metal, with two stationary blades. According to the manufacturer, it's made of stainless steel.I gave the knife a good wash, dried it with paper towels, and then nervously got to work. The commercial made it look so easy... but how would it actually perform? Would I embarrass myself in front of my girlfriend?
I started by cutting a large cabbage into two halves with the big knife. Then I placed a clean, dry bowl in position and got to work.
I was surprised by how quickly and easily the process went! Before I even asked my wife to capture the action, I had already shredded almost the entire batch. It was a huge time-saver - what used to take me an hour and a lot of effort now takes just 7-8 minutes.
My wife missed a few carrots when she used the shredder, but after we added salt and let it sit for a bit, the carrots were perfectly fine.
After a few days, our homemade sauerkraut was ready to eat. There's something satisfying about sitting at the table, looking out the window at the snow-covered street, and crunching into our delicious creation.
I'm absolutely loving this knife! It's been my trusty sidekick and genius in the kitchen. Just remember to take good care of it – it's sensitive to hot water, dishwashers, and rough cloths.
