I really liked the main character, Max. He's an ordinary guy, kind-hearted, not very lucky, and one of the many people who have one day that's just like the next, but with dreams.

And then this miracle happens, giving him a chance to change his life.
Especially since he's got a ton of shoes, both men's and women's.
Adam Sandler's in the lead role, one of Israel's top comedians from past years, but in this movie, he's more endearing than hilarious.
The movie's billed as a comedy, but it's not laugh-out-loud hilarious. It's more of a feel-good, family-friendly film, but I didn't get that 'aha' moment of pure joy. Sorry, but for me, a comedy's a movie that makes me laugh or at least cracks a smile. This one didn't deliver.
An interesting concept gave me hope that the movie would be a wild ride, but the more I watched, the more disappointed I became, because I saw that they handled the theme in a pretty bland way. They could've done so much more with it.
The visuals are pretty meh, so I didn't get to enjoy any stunning visuals, and the special effects are non-existent, which is a bummer, especially since it's a fantasy film. I was expecting some cool CGI.
The character transformation happens without any special effects, so it's just one look to another.
It's a snooze-fest and completely unengaging, with no computer graphics to speak of, which is weird, given that in 2014, when the movie was made, computer graphics weren't a problem in films.
I have to admit, the violent scenes they threw in really took away from the movie's value for me. I was expecting to be able to watch it with my family, with kids.
But by the middle of the movie, the momentum had dropped, and the ending was just a mess.
I'm a bit of a completionist, and I usually stick with movies till the end. But in "The Cobbler", I was really disappointed by the ending.
The romantic plotline that was promised at the beginning was really underdeveloped.
One thing I did like about this movie was the idea that trying to live someone else's life and following their path isn't always a good idea, and that happiness is usually found right next to you, not by trying to get someone else's.
But overall, I was left feeling really disappointed.
