I picked up the Express Newspaper at a kiosk while waiting for the bus. This review is my honest take on this publication.

Express Newspaper review The front page is in color, and the newspaper's paper feels like parchment. The ink is so vibrant that the pages seem almost oil-based.

The format is A3, and with a circulation of 359,000 copies, it's quite impressive, especially considering our time. Most people prefer their phones, but this newspaper still has its fans.

I've been reading it for over 30 years, and judging by the content, it hasn't changed much since the 90s.

The issue starts with political news.

Right from the first article, I was taken aback by the inflammatory language used in this publication. I'm used to intelligent journalistic style from my favorite newspaper, Arguments and Facts.

You don't typically hear such colorful language in everyday conversations.

A journalist should remain impartial and minimize personal feelings, giving the reader the opportunity to form their own opinion.

However, the journalists at Express Newspaper seem to think differently and allow themselves the most coarse insults.

It's either good or bad – they all get lumped together into one ugly mess.

I have to wonder, what kind of audience do these journalists think they're targeting?

In my opinion, the 'average reader' is someone who thinks for themselves and has some self-respect. I just can't imagine someone who uses inflammatory language every day reading this newspaper.

The articles and illustrations in this Express newspaper seem to be chosen specifically to be the darkest and most pessimistic.

The cartoons aren't funny, they're just mean-spirited and stupid.

The main feature of the issue I got my hands on is Alexandra Bortich. To me, she seemed like a nice and charming girl.

The authors managed to convince me otherwise by showing her in not just provocative, but actually pretty disgusting photos.

I get that the actress deliberately shared them with the public, but that doesn't mean they need to be spread around.

Regardless of the section, the gist of every article is to shock with dirty laundry and dig up personal info.

Even world-famous stars and our own celebrities aren't immune.

It's like they're trying to sensationalize every story, no matter how insignificant.

Looking back, I've definitely changed over the years. I mean, I've seen some pretty wild transformations in my time, but I think Linda Evangelista's gone from supermodel to, well, let's just say she's not exactly the picture of youth anymore.

I recently came across an article about Anastasia, and while it was a decent read, the title really didn't do her justice. I mean, it was like they were trying to make her out to be some kind of, I don't know, loose woman or something.

Even if the photographer managed to snap a decent photo, the article itself was still pretty trashy.

When you've got nothing new or interesting to offer your readers, you start digging up old, tired stories that everyone's already heard. I mean, who cares about some washed-up celebrity's past scandals?

It's like they're trying to dig up dirt on any journalist who works for Express. I mean, I've heard of Guy de Maupassant being a French literary classic, but to Express, he's just some old scribe who wrote about whores.

You want the latest scoop? I've got it.

I recently stumbled upon some pretty juicy gossip - Dmitry Khustalev caused a scene on a plane, and Laisan Utebayeva's dad got into a fight with her. It's all pretty fascinating and informative.

If you're a travel enthusiast, the reporters at EG have put together an interesting piece about Veliky Rostov.

Advertisements - the icing on this cake of disappointment.

Just when I thought it was all downhill, there was a refreshing article about sports towards the end of the issue.

I used to love watching international competitions and cheering on our team, but now we're deprived of that opportunity. Although, I suppose I'll stick to reading about sports news here.

However, even in the sports section, the main focus wasn't on the sport itself, but on the drama surrounding it.

And, I'm just wondering, is the phrase 'to bang your head against a wall' really that coarse, or is it just not very literate?

Oh, the crossword puzzle. And the answers are right there too. I guess the editors are convinced that no one will buy their newspaper again, so they decided to print the answers right away.

Honestly, the only thing I liked about this newspaper is the tiny photo they included.

That's about it.

I mean, it's not even their own work.

After reading this newspaper, I got the same feeling as when I read 'Perfume' - I just wanted to scrub off the sleaziness and never go back to that kind of thing.

I wish the journalists at this newspaper would keep looking for something better to write about, because they're really good at finding the worst stuff.

And to you, dear readers of this review, I'd say: avoid this newspaper at all costs and try to find more positive things in life.
