The Artist: Portrait of a Murder Falls Flat on Its Face

summarizeEditor's Summary

The Artist: Portrait of a Murder starts strong with a haunting poster and an insane opening scene, but it quickly loses steam with a plethora of negativity, rough language, and unlikable characters. While the acting is top-notch, it's not enough to save this show from its overall messiness and convoluted plot.

I'll be honest, the poster for 'The Artist: Portrait of a Murder' gives me the chills. The characters are lined up like tombstones, and it's a real mood-setter.
The opening scene is insane - it's clever and wild.
I'd totally want to add a dancing ballerina like that to my collection if I were Ariel.
The acting is top-notch.
Norman Henry, played by Mandy Patinkin, is a total character.
"I'm a man of means, I don't work for money."
Norman's a junk dealer, a middleman who collects scraps.
"Life is dull and mercenary, Marion."
The dialogue's not cheesy.
"I'll take my leave on this brilliant note."
Marion Henry, played by Janet McTeer, is a firecracker.
"This story's a cautionary tale."
Marion's a feisty one who boxes for fun.
The cinematography's solid.
Marion's got a nice two-story house with a loft.
Ballerina Lilit's a young, optimistic girl with a lot of spunk. But deep down, she's got a bad case of loneliness.
The artist Edgar Degas, played by Danny Huston, is a total creep.
To be honest, there's a lot of negativity in this show - it's got some pretty rough language, some gross scenes, and some not-so-nice characters.
The characters are constantly using the 'c' word, and there's even a scene with some pretty bad stuff.
I wouldn't recommend 'The Artist: Portrait of a Murder' (2025) to anyone.
