A Hidden Gem in the Malokarachaevo Region: The Tea Cottage
I recently had the pleasure of stumbling upon the charming Tea Cottage in the picturesque Malokarachaevo region, not far from the breathtaking Sugar Waterfalls. This quaint tea house was the perfect pit stop after exploring the waterfalls, and I'm so glad I decided to step inside.
At first, I thought the Tea Cottage was just another tourist spot with tea and souvenirs, but I was pleasantly surprised. The area was immaculately maintained and breathtakingly beautiful, with vibrant flowers and a serene small pond adorned with water lilies.
The scenery was so picturesque that I couldn't resist taking a few photos on the bench, and I was particularly enchanted by the samovar fountain. The wooden sticks placed next to each sample allowed me to scoop up the honey and taste it, and I opted for the cranberry cream-honey.
I was impressed by the enormous selection of teas, from regular to medicinal, and the variety of honeys, including pure and whipped honey. The staff was friendly and welcoming, answering all my questions in detail and telling me about the different blends. It's clear that every little detail has been thought through, and you can sense that it's not just about making a profit, but about sharing their love for their homeland and its produce.
The interior of the shop is also worth mentioning, with its carved wooden frames and handmade embroidered cushions on the benches. It feels like you're visiting a kind-hearted mountain family who's happy to share their best with you.
I almost forgot to mention that you can pay with a card! In the middle of nowhere, and yet, it's all so civilized. Apparently, they also offer online delivery, and I was able to find them on Ozon by searching for 'Tea House Narsan'. The selection isn't huge, but it's there, and you can find something.
Just nearby, you can check out the 'Emegen House' Ethno Zone (I'll write about it in my next review). You can also go horseback riding if you feel like it. In short, this is not just a shop, but a whole tourist zone where everyone will find something they like.
One of the highlights of my visit was trying the joint cream for my mom's joints. Unfortunately, it didn't suit her - she had an allergic reaction (obviously to the herbs). However, I loved it when my joints started to ache, and I apply it at night, and by morning, I'm good as new. Plus, it has a lovely scent, not that pungent one, and you can use it without worrying about going outside.
Besides the tea and honey, they had all sorts of meat and dairy products, and every possible jam. They even had a cafe on site where you could grab a bite, but I didn't go in. You could get a coffee made in a Turkish coffee pot, and buy all sorts of souvenirs.
I highly recommend visiting the Tea Cottage, not just for the delicious tea and honey, but for the warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's a true gem in the Malokarachaevo region, and I'm so glad I stumbled upon it.
