Glissade Kid's Base Layer, Model 134076

I've gotta say, the Glissade Kid's Base Layer is a great pick for everyday adventures with your little one. It's designed to keep them warm and toasty, which is perfect for all the running around they do. The base layer fits snugly, so they can move around freely without feeling restricted. It's ideal for kids who love to explore and play outside.

Why I won't be buying Sportmaster's kids' socks again

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently bought thermal socks for my kids from Sportmaster, but unfortunately, they didn't live up to my expectations. The quality is subpar, and the price isn't worth it. I'm usually a fan of Sportmaster, but this product was a letdown. The socks run small, so make sure to get a proper fit before buying. I've been using insulated pants from Detsky Mir and wetsuits for my kids, and they work way better for our mild winters in Krasnodar. I'm not sure if I'd recommend these socks to others, but I'll share my honest review to help you make an informed decision.

Hello there!
We live in the south of Russia, in Krasnodar. Our winters are short and usually pretty mild, with temperatures rarely dropping below -5 or -10 degrees Celsius during the day. Given that, it doesn't make sense to splurge on high-end winter gear, so we make do with insulated pants from Detsky Mir and wetsuits.
I'm used to buying thermals from sports stores like Sportmaster. That's where I picked up the thermal underwear for my sons. Important note: these leggings run small, so it's super important to get a proper fit before making a purchase!

Quick info
Where I bought it: Sportmaster store (read more)Price: 999 rubles, no discounts or promotions during peak seasonModel: 134076. Note that the model doesn't change depending on sizexa0
Appearance, composition, size range
My eldest son is 12 years old, 164 cm tall. My youngest is 7 years old, 140 cm tall. For sizing, we took two size ranges for each. It turned out that the leggings run small, so we got the 146-152 size range for the youngest and the 170-176 range for the eldest.
Glissade Kid's base layer, model 134076Pic 1:On the reverse side, there's not much information. You can see the composition: 100% polyester (synthetic, in our case). They're also the lightest of all types of leggings. They're not designed for harsh Siberian winters. They look like regular thin tights, not like leggings or tights that are meant to be tight-fitting.
Sportmaster Kids' CalzonesTkhan is smooth and feels nice to the touch. Manufactured in China, made of polyester. The manufacturer recommends not washing the calzones at a temperature above 30 degrees Celsius.I've already washed the calzones multiple times. I always wash them with my other black clothes at 40 degrees Celsius. As for pilling, I don't know, as they get washed in an automatic washing machine.
The calzones dry quickly: they're thin and synthetic, after all.

Sock, how they sit, my impressions
I had to almost beg my youngest son to pose for a photo in the calzones.
Glissade Kid's base layer, model 134076He's embarrassed, completely zipped up. However, it's clear that the calzones have a low waistline. Not like women's jeans from the 2000s, but still. If the kid sits on his haunches, bends down - it's all over, his back is exposed. Just put some longer shirts or tops on him.
The low waistline on the calzones is the main and very noticeable minus.
I didn't pay attention to this when I bought them. Moms of boys will understand me. Try to get them to try something on and it's a whole ordeal.
After three months of regular wear (this winter was surprisingly cold and long) the fabric has slightly stretched out. But, my knees aren't stretched out, no pilling.
My kids have been wearing these leggings every day for at least an hour. If it's snowing outside, they wear thermal leggings underneath their snow pants. The snow pants have a waterproof material that keeps the snow out, and a fleece lining that keeps them warm. If it's not snowing, they just wear the leggings with some thermal or fleece-lined pants on top. After they come inside, I check their skin - it's usually cold to the touch, but not icy cold. They say their legs don't feel cold at all in these leggings. They can move around freely, even do gymnastics in them. My kids aren't exactly gymnasts, but they can definitely kick their legs up high. Sometimes they'll wear these leggings all day, even after they've warmed up. The best part is that their skin doesn't get sweaty in these leggings - it breathes really well. These leggings are perfect for our mild winters, or for kids who live in Siberia. But for kids who live in colder climates, they might not be enough for the winter months.Pros:
super thin, you can wear any pants over them, even school pantsdon't constrict movementdon't sag or get baggycan be washed in a washing machinedry quicklykeep you warmdon't make your skin sweatCons:
low waistline - my kids' backs are always exposed, even with a long t-shirt onI wouldn't say anything bad about the Glissade Kid's base layer leggings, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone with kids who need a higher waistline. I'll be looking for that in my next purchase.
