I've tried a bunch of dog foods, but my pup just didn't click with Sirius.

Everyone raves about this food, but after switching my dog, I found some things I hadn't been warned about.

I'll break it all down for you.

Background: My dog was eating Royal Canin at the breeder, but we decided to switch to natural food. We figured it's better for her growth and development. She was doing great, but since we're training her with food rewards, we needed a food she'd love.

Here's the thing: when my dog's hungry, she'll eat anything, but she just wouldn't touch this food. I don't know why, but it just didn't agree with her.

Apparently, other dog owners' dogs only eat this food on walks when there are other dogs around. At home, they won't touch it, and they prefer something else.

Feeding chart:

The packaging has a feeding chart on the side. My dog needed a lot of this food – the packaging suggests it's suitable for young dogs and puppies, but my pup just didn't enjoy it.

Comparison to other foods:

Compared to other foods, this one has the highest amount of grams. I'm not sure what that means, but it seemed like a lot of food for my small pup.

Packaging issues:

The packaging's a bit lacking – there's no zipper or any kind of seal like a Zip-Lock, so I ended up storing it in a plastic container.

About the food:

I'll be honest, the smell isn't great. At first, all the foods seem to smell the same, but that's not the case. If you sniff one food a lot, you'll immediately notice the difference when you buy another.

The granules are all the same size. If you touch them with your hand, your hands get greasy.

My verdict:

I'm not sure, but it feels like we're being misled. My dog refuses to eat it, even when they're starving.

The price is accessible, which is why many people prefer it. The price and quality are satisfactory for many, but not for me.

What changes did you notice when you switched away from this food?

This food didn't cause any allergies, but when we switched to another food, we noticed that our dog's eye discharge decreased significantly. Before, they had constant discharge, but now it's almost gone.I finally got the stool sorted out. My dog loves dried, light beef, which we initially blamed for the diarrhea, but after switching to a different food, everything got back to normal. Now we even give her the light version without any issues.After that, the Pro Plan Opti Start for large breed puppies with chicken seems to be the top choice.

We decided to go back to the food she was fed as a puppy.

I wouldn't recommend it, but I also can't say anything bad about it.
