Getting into Spring Vibes with SimpaTea's Blueberry and Thyme Delight

summarizeEditor's Summary

I'm absolutely loving SimpaTea's Blueberry and Thyme Delight - it's the perfect tea to get me in the mood for spring. The unique flavor combination is a real game-changer, with the sweetness of blueberry and the earthiness of thyme blending together in a way that's both soothing and invigorating. I appreciate that SimpaTea uses natural ingredients, including smorodina and thyme, which not only taste amazing but also offer some fantastic health benefits. What really sets SimpaTea apart, though, is their commitment to quality and customer support - they're always looking for ways to improve and expand their product range, and it shows in the care and attention that goes into every aspect of their business. I've been impressed with their growing selection of flavors and the fact that they're now available in Belarus, making it easier than ever to get your hands on their delicious teas.

Getting into Spring Vibes with SimpaTea's Blueberry and Thyme Delight
As the last wisps of winter's chill dissipate, I find myself craving the vibrant essence of spring. The air is filled with the sweet songs of birds, and the scent of blooming flowers wafts through the breeze, beckoning me to indulge in the season's delightful flavors.
To immerse myself in the spirit of spring, I've been sipping on SimpaTea's Smorodina-chabre tea, and I'm excited to share my thoughts with you.
For those who may be unfamiliar, SimpaTea is a Belarusian tea brand that has been gaining popularity for its unique and delicious flavors. Since I first introduced you to their interesting tea drinks, their lineup has grown to 8 flavors, and now they're available in Belarus, making it easier for me to enjoy their offerings without relying on marketplaces.
As I reflect on my journey with SimpaTea, I'm reminded of the various flavors I've had the pleasure of trying. There was the Ginger-lemon tea, the Elderberry-apricot tea, the Cranberry-karkade tea, the Mango-maackia tea, the Clove-orange tea, and the Mulled tea. Each flavor has its unique charm, and I must admit that my favorite remains the Ginger-lemon tea. Its bold and intriguing flavor is a perfect representation of the season's vibrant spirit.
However, I do have to mention that I'm not a fan of added sugar in teas. To avoid the sweetness, I usually add more water than the manufacturer recommends. Today, I'd like to introduce you to another flavor that I've been eager to try: the Smorodina-chabre tea.
Product description from the manufacturer:
Smorodina-chabre tea is the perfect warming drink for cold days. This tea combines the freshness of blackcurrant and the soothing properties of chamomile, making it an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, boosting your immune system, and helping you fight off the flu.
The main ingredients listed are blackcurrant and chamomile, also known as 'timothy.'
However, the actual composition is much richer. The ingredients include blackcurrant berries, red currant berries, concentrated blackcurrant juice, sugar, water, glucose-fructose syrup, dried orange peel, black tea, chamomile, acidity regulator - citric acid, and preservative - potassium sorbate.
I'm not a fan of the sugar and glucose-fructose syrup combo, but I'm just trying it out for now – no plans to make it a regular thing! And, to be honest, I'm currently stuck with a cold and a runny nose, so I'm not exactly looking for a strict diet.
No artificial preservatives for me either – we've got sorbitol instead, which is considered one of the safest synthetic preservatives, so I'm not complaining.
The tea concentrate comes in a small, round plastic dip-pot with a foil seal on top. I've had some issues with the foil getting damaged during shipping – I had to clean my bag and its contents off a sticky syrup residue. So, be careful!
The product info and manufacturer details are printed in tiny text, but they're all there, on the foil seal. The contents weigh 60g, and you're supposed to add 300ml of water.
The brewing process is super simple, and it's even shown here in infographic form. You just need to pour the contents into a suitable container or tea infuser, add 300ml of hot (or cold) water, stir, and voila – your tea is ready to drink!
The shelf life for all SimpaTea tea drinks is 9 months, and the production date is listed on the bottom of the packaging.
As I poured the contents into my tea infuser, I was struck by the dark, rich, and aromatic blend with visible blackcurrant berries and even a bit of orange peel. The ingredients are more visible in the glass tea infuser I'm using to brew my hot tea.
The question is: will it turn into compote? The blend has a deep, dark red – almost burgundy – color. Blackcurrants always leave their mark, no matter how many kitchen towels I ruin during the season...
As the manufacturer recommends, I just poured the concentrate into 300ml of hot water and stirred.
The tea has a familiar, pleasant aroma of berries, but I can also pick out the scent of mint. I'm not a fan of straight herbal teas, but my sister's boyfriend is obsessed with thyme and adds it to everything. I've never been able to have a cup of tea at my sister's without thyme in it. So, this flavor is pretty familiar to me...
And, to be honest, despite the pretty burgundy-red color and the berries at the bottom of the tea infuser, the contents of my cup quickly become tea-like, rather than a compote, thanks to the black tea and, mainly, the thyme!
As I expected, this tea is too sweet for me, so I added a bit more water. But I think many people will find it just right – it's not too sweet.
There's a generous amount of berry flavor. The orange note is subtle, but I can pick it out. The mint is represented by small bits of stem.
This tea is pretty good, although it didn't quite make it to the top of my list of Russian-made teas from SimpaTea. I can definitely recommend it, and I'm off to try another flavor – the 'Raspberry-Lemon' one, which is definitely going to be a "compote"!
