I picked up these candies because their name is super eye-catching and original.
They're glazed chocolates from Red October 'Mama Came' with buckwheat and blueberries.

I was curious about what makes these candies so special. Maybe they're made in a home-style way or there's just a ton of buckwheat in them that the candy could be a healthy snack, like oatmeal and berries.
But buckwheat's already a staple in my diet due to some digestive issues, so I wasn't exactly stoked to try more buckwheat candies. However, my curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to give them a shot.
Plus, the Red October brand has been around for years – I even remember getting their candies as gifts when I was in school.
So, my purchase was motivated by both curiosity and trust in the brand's quality, even if the buckwheat didn't exactly sound appealing to me.

🍬 Packaging
The candy pack I got looked like this, unfortunately, the seller had glued a sticker in the center of the packaging, which made it hard for me to appreciate the demo image.
However, the candy wrappers do give you a closer look at the design details.
There's a letter from the Red October team on the back, and reading it gives you a good idea why they named these candies 'Mama's Come Home'.
Glazed candies from Red October 'Mama's Come Home' with buckwheat and blueberries Mom is the closest and most loving person. It's with her that we first saw the world and took our first steps. And every new day of our lives, we feel her love, support, and care. The Red October team wants to thank all the Moms and dedicate these candies to our meetings filled with warmth, tenderness, joy, and plans and memories.
It turns out these candies are dedicated to all Moms, not just in the sense that I thought: about a healthy mom's buckwheat porridge in the form of a candy.
Also, there's a list of ingredients:
Glazed candies from Red October 'Mama's Come Home' with buckwheat and blueberries
As you can see, there are tons of ingredients in the list. And when it comes to buckwheat, there are a few more types of grains in the mix, so we're not just talking about buckwheat here. There's also corn grits, rice, and wheat bran, but also flour
Red October's 'Mom's Come' glazed candies with barley and blueberries🍓 Blueberries.
But I got hooked on barley, and what about blueberries?
After all, besides barley, the name also mentions another super useful and tasty fruit - blueberries. They're often used in various products and not just food items. These days, it's not just a tasty and healthy option, but also a popular choice among consumers.
And, just like barley, the blueberries in these candies work really well together - minus the added sugar, of course.
Blueberries are paired with apple puree and juice.
These candies could've just as easily been called 'Mom's Come' with corn and apples.))
But I won't get into the details of the ingredients, as it's rare to find perfect combinations, especially in tasty candies. You can't avoid adding various ingredients.
It's up to each individual to decide whether to consume such a product or not.

🍬 Candies.
Now, let's take a look at the candies themselves. They're wrapped in a paper wrapper, folded in a 'corner' style.
"Corner" - a way of wrapping candies where the wrapper forms triangular corners from both sides.
This is, in my opinion, the most aesthetically pleasing and attractive way to wrap candies.

And here's the candy itself!

Candies with a Red October 'Mom's Comeback' coating, featuring wheat and chokeberryIt's got a weirdly elongated rectangular body. The whole thing is covered in chocolate. To be fair, I did spot some areas where the chocolate didn't quite cover the base, leaving these weird pink gaps behind.
Candies with a Red October 'Mom's Comeback' coating, featuring wheat and chokeberryI'm not exactly fussy, but if I notice something that really stands out, I'm going to talk about it. Those pink gaps in the manufacturing process didn't bother me, nor did some of the little bumps in the chocolate coating. From what I can tell, when you're pouring chocolate all over the body of the candies, you get these air bubbles that eventually pop, leaving behind these rough little craters on top - like the moon's surface.
Candies with a Red October 'Mom's Comeback' coating, featuring wheat and chokeberryBut hey, that's just a minor imperfection in the manufacturing process - the main thing is that these candies have to taste good.
🍬 Taste experience.
And now we get to the best part of this review!
I always like to show you what the candies look like when I cut them open.
Candies with a Red October 'Mom's Comeback' coating, featuring wheat and chokeberryHere's the pink filling under the chocolate coating, with some chocolate bits mixed in at the bottom.
I gotta say, the glaze didn't blow me away, but that's a good thing. It's not too sweet, which is perfect because when you take a bite with all the fillings and chocolate, it's still pretty sweet. But if you're having it with tea or coffee without sugar, it's just right.
Dried Fruit and Cherry Chocolate Truffles from Red October 'Mama Arrived' with Buckwheat and CherryIf you're a fan of nougat, like me, you'll love the pink filling. It's a fruity, slightly tart jam with a strong cherry flavor, but don't expect it to be overpowering.
When I start chewing the nougat, you can hear a slight crunch from the brown, caramel-like filling - that's our assumed buckwheat. I have to say, I don't taste any buckwheat at all, not even a hint of rice or corn either. That's a relief, to be honest - I was worried I'd be eating cereal-flavored candies.
Dried Fruit and Cherry Chocolate Truffles from Red October 'Mama Arrived' with Buckwheat and CherryAs for the crunchy bits, don't worry about your teeth - they're tiny and easy to bite into. They mix in with the nougat and get lost in the gooey filling.

🍬 I really enjoyed these truffles. The chocolate flavor combined with the soft nougat and fake buckwheat caramel was a pleasant surprise.
However, my daughter didn't like them, which is weird because I usually take her opinion into account when choosing treats.
I have to say, despite some minor flaws in production and ingredients, I highly recommend these glazed candies from Red October 'Mama's Come' with chickpeas and blueberries! They're a lovely and tasty treat with a cup of tea.

Thanks for reading!
Happy shopping!
What drew me to these waffle owls, who else might enjoy them, and why I don't buy them anymore.

The perfect dessert with a romantic-erotic name for those who constantly check the ingredients before buying.

When chocolate is off-limits, but you really want something sweet. Delicious candies in the shape of clocks - a unique gift. And how can you resist eating them all, only to argue with the kids.
xa0
Jam that I always buy in bulk. Natural, no additives.

Who puts an unfinished cheburek in the packaging? It's so good, you just can't stop eating it.
