A Cautionary Tale: My Disappointing Experience at President Clinic

summarizeEditor's Summary

My experience at President Clinic was a total letdown. We thought we'd scored a free dentist appointment, but things took a turn for the worse. The clinic's marketing strategy might be clever, but their customer service is a disaster. We were promised a hassle-free experience, but we ended up dealing with unnecessary stress and confusion. I've lived in this neighborhood for years, and I've never encountered a clinic that's so inconsistent in their communication. If you're considering President Clinic for your dental needs, I'd caution you to think twice. They quoted us a price after the appointment, despite promising it would be free. The staff seemed uncertain about their own policies and procedures. We had to deal with unnecessary stress and confusion after the appointment. The clinic's communication is inconsistent, at best. They didn't publish my review on their website, even after I wrote it. The whole experience felt like a total letdown.

I've been lucky enough to have a dentist right next door to my house, which is a huge plus. But that's where the good stuff ends.
My neighbors take their kids here for check-ups because it's free, and it's super convenient. Plus, the clinic is close by, so it's a great spot for them to recruit future patients. That's some clever marketing, right?
We decided to follow their lead and booked an appointment for April 2024. I called to confirm the details, and they assured me that the check-up would be free.
Our kid went in for a dentist appointment with his dad, and things took a turn for the worse. After the exam, they started asking for money!
My husband was shocked, and he called me to confirm that we'd discussed the free appointment over the phone. But even that didn't help.
It was a real hassle - they started digging up old phone records, and it was just a whole ordeal. I mean, why do patients have to deal with all that stress after a visit?
That was just the beginning of the bad experience, let's just say...
I wrote a review on their website, but they never published it. The management got in touch with me, apologized, and promised to investigate and take action to prevent it from happening again.
I believed them, and thought everything was okay.
But six months later, we went back to the clinic, booked another appointment, and I called to confirm if the free check-up was still on.
It was!
When I confirmed our visit in writing, I asked again if the exam would be free.
- Don't worry, it's all taken care of!
This time, I was there in person, and guess what?
I was blown away when the whole story repeated itself, letter for letter. I'd already left a review on their site, but it got rejected again. Their quality service team reached out to me, and it followed the same script as before, except the doctor recommended sedation or anesthesia for my kid's cavity treatment!
I started digging into pediatric dentistry and realized that treatment under anesthesia is an overkill for a well-behaved kid. Plus, after clearing up the misunderstanding, we were still forced to pay for the free consultation when we left the clinic.
Another case of unscrupulous behavior.
We were offered an appointment with a second doctor, again emphasizing that it would be completely free. Their goal was to keep us as patients and help my kid get their cavities treated.
So, what's your take on this?
We finally managed to leave the clinic without any issues on our third visit. I was thrilled that my complaints were finally heard!
However, the only 'but' was when the doctor started pushing for sedation - nitrous oxide (laughing gas) - for my kid, claiming it's their default procedure for all kids. I thought it was unnecessary, and they even gave us a quote for future treatment. We left the clinic at that point.
I was still unsure, so I dove deeper into the topic of pediatric dentistry. I started looking into other clinics in the area, but the fact that this one was right next door to me made it hard to shake off my initial reservations. Those early warning signs were still bothering me:
1. The pushy attitude and failure to uphold agreements;
2. Trying to sneak in services I didn't need;
3. Overpriced services that didn't match the prices listed on their website;
You can compare the prices for yourself - they're off by around 500 rubles. For a position:
Yeah, it's a small thing, but it's annoying. Either they're deliberately ripping off customers with these tiny details or the prices listed online are just outdated, despite being supposedly active since January 24th, 2024.
I'm an optimist, but after consulting with the clinic administration for the fourth time, I finally gave in and decided to give them a chance to start my child's treatment. I really hoped that the new doctor, the third pediatric dentist, would follow Hippocrates' oath and help us, rather than piling on unnecessary work and draining our finances. I wanted to find a doctor with whom I'd be on the same wavelength, with minimal medication and the option to increase it only based on their recommendations.
The consultation was today, November 4th, 2024. My child and husband were there.
Guess what happened?
Yep, it happened right during the 5-minute consultation, with a sour face and a condescending tone, the new doctor started complaining. Unfortunately, there was no expected contact, and it ended with an unpleasant scene at the reception!
The clinic has finally exhausted my patience and trust. And despite living nearby, I wouldn't trust them with my child's health. It turns out that this kind of attitude towards clients isn't an isolated incident at the clinic.
I found out that several friends with kids didn't stay at this clinic for treatment and left with a bad impression: one was forced to undergo a milk tooth removal with an injection, which wasn't necessary, and they decided to switch clinics. Another was also pushed towards overmedication, with the clinic's intention to make a profit clear in every appointment. The parents naturally switched to a nearby pediatric clinic.
It's clear that the clinic's approach is to extract as much money as possible from each patient, disregarding their initial agreements. The scenes at the reception continue to be embarrassing. This is absolute chaos, or they need to change their policies or keep their promises.
Now, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Reviews on their site get pre-moderated, so you only see the good stuff. Luckily, I can share my honest opinion here.
I'm excited to share our positive experience with my 4-year-old's tooth decay treatment and what I learned about oral hygiene, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and fluoride...
Wishing you all happy smiles and healthy teeth!
