A Fungal Nightmare

I'll never forget the day I got infected with a fungus at my go-to salon for manicures and pedicures. It was about two years ago, and I had no idea what was brewing under my gel polish. Now I'm terrified of getting infected again, so I've stopped using gel polish altogether - on my hands and feet.

Prices

The center offers a wide range of podological services. The price for a complex pedicure depends on the complexity of the procedure. They have a loyalty program and various promotions that can help you save a bit of money.

My pedicure costs 4,500 rubles. I get it done about twice a year, at the beginning of winter and at the beginning of summer. The prices are definitely higher than just a salon, but I trust a specialized center more. Here, safety measures and hygiene are way higher, and the pedicure is professional and tailored to individual needs.

Interior

Inside the podology center, it looks almost like a medical center, but it's not. That really surprised me – 13% of services can't be returned!

(For reference, I even return VAT on services from cosmetologists (Laser Profi Clinic, St. Petersburg) and laser hair removal (Epilium Laser Hair Removal Clinic)

Inside, it's spotlessly clean and minimalist. There's an administrator's desk at the entrance. Then there are a few treatment rooms.

No questions about hygiene.

Procedure

My pedicure procedure usually takes about 1.5 hours.

The procedure takes place on a comfortable chair. The technician is wearing a white uniform, gloves, and a mask. The pedicure includes both machine-based treatment and manual tools.

Decorative finishing is not included.

As a result, I get a beautiful, clean, and professionally treated foot. During the procedure, the technician gives advice on further care.

I love that all my recommendations and observations are documented in a card, just like a medical center, and I also get a folder with them.

The specialist gives me a couple of trial samples of good foot creams, which I really appreciate, especially Gehwol - it's a well-known brand.

The procedure is different from what you'd find in a beauty salon.

The hygiene treatment takes much longer and is much more thorough.

They have better safety measures in place, and I'm confident that there's no risk of fungal infection.

I noticed that after I started going to this podology center, my toenails stopped growing in and my heel cracks stopped bothering me.

You can get professional advice on foot care and choosing the right shoes.

My feet look much healthier and have a fresh, well-cared-for appearance for a much longer time.
