Let's face it, we've all been there - thinking about our diet at some point in our lives. Time waits for no one, and some people struggle with a slowing metabolism, while others deal with digestive issues. I'm one of those people who's put together a combo of problems.
I first encountered the issue of a balanced diet when I suddenly started gaining weight. I'd always eaten intuitively and had no idea what I was doing. Cooking's not really my thing, and for the past few years, I've been living on pre-prepared meals.
When I tried to lose weight, I ended up with a nasty case of gastritis, which I wrote about in this review.
After recovering and realizing that sports aren't really my thing, I decided to give meal delivery services a shot.
GrowFood offers a range of meal plans: Detox, Express Fit, Super Fit, Breakfast, Fit, Daily, mFit, Balance, and Power.
Detox.
This two-day cleansing program consists of just drinks, totaling around 700 calories.
Express Fit.
The menu features three meals, totaling around 800 calories.
Super Fit.
The menu includes four meals, totaling around 1000 calories. I considered this option, but it's just too little food for me.
Breakfast.
This menu is perfect for those who want to start their day without feeling hungry - it's two breakfast meals.
Fit.
This is the plan I chose - two breakfast meals, lunch, a snack, and dinner, totaling 1200 calories, sometimes up to 1300, which is just what I need for my weight.
Daily.
This menu features four meals, but they're more filling and total 1400 calories.
mFit. This plan includes five meals, recommended for men who want to lose a bit of weight, totaling 1600 calories.
Balance.
This menu also features five meals, designed for those who want to gain a bit of muscle mass, totaling 1800 calories.
Power.
This line is for athletes who are trying to gain weight - it features five meals, totaling 2500 calories.
My goal was to lose weight, but not too quickly, to avoid exacerbating my gastritis. Over the past six months, I've gained weight from 52 to 57 kg, which was really disappointing. My ideal weight for my height is 52 kg, and I'm aiming to get back to that.
That's when I signed up for the Fit plan for 60 days.
Cost: 6621 rubles for six days, 1103 rubles per day.
When I look at my monthly expenses, I was spending around $25,000 on food, including groceries, snacks, fast food, and soda.
Now, I'm spending around $33,000, and I'm not always able to finish all my meals in a day.
One of the things I love about this service is that I can swap out meals if I want something different.
For example, I can replace a meal with something like these delicious-looking dishes.
These meal plans are really helpful, and it's easy to see how swapping out a meal will affect your calorie intake.
It's also super convenient that I can pause my meal plan if I'm not going to be able to eat all my meals in a day.
If delivery isn't going to happen within a few days, I can also swap out meals or add snacks.
I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed by the oatmeal options - I just couldn't get into them. 😊 Although they're not bad at all. Not all the options fit into my meal plan, so I sometimes have to manually add them to the menu.
What I really love is the variety of sweet options - I'm a total sucker for sweet treats, and this meal plan delivers. Almost all the options have honey or a sugar substitute, and they're all super tasty.
There's also a ton of chicken options, but the variety keeps it from getting boring.
One thing to keep in mind is that the food arrives in intervals, so make sure you have space in the fridge for it.
It takes up about this much space. 😊 This meal plan is for 22 days.
I like that there are plenty of delivery intervals to choose from - I always opt for morning delivery.
As for delivery, I didn't have any issues, except for one time when the courier was a bit late due to a crazy traffic jam.
I've never had any expired food delivered, everything's been super fresh. In fact, I've even been able to leave meals for the next day if I couldn't finish them.
Let's talk about the food itself.
I didn't expect it to be actually good, to be honest. In other services, it's usually just okay at best. But here, it not only looks great, but it's also super tasty.
Breakfasts have been my favorite so far.
They often have fruits, nuts, cottage cheese, and eggs in them.
Lunches always come with some pretty tasty salads. Sometimes I use up all the dressing, and other times I skip it altogether.
To my surprise, I've even started eating fish. 😊
I've got to say, the menu has some great options - like pasta with sauces that aren't super calorie-heavy.
For comparison, I had food from another service recently, and it was a total letdown. Not only was it unappetizing, but it was also super greasy and just plain gross. I ended up tossing it after a few days and went back to GrooFud.
I just couldn't bring myself to finish it, and it ended up in the trash after a few days. I'm so glad I went back to GrooFud.
As you level up, you get access to some nice perks, like free delivery.
For example, I can share a link with you and you'll get rewards on your account. Just hit me up in the DMs.
Results.
Honestly, I was expecting more, but I'm happy with what I got.
My weight hasn't changed drastically, but it's no longer increasing like it used to. The difference is around 500-1000 grams.
I've been living a sedentary lifestyle this whole time because I have a problem with my foot, and I don't do much sports. I think if I was working out like I should be, I could've lost weight faster.
I'll keep eating with GrowFood until the menu gets old, which thankfully doesn't happen often. 😊
I genuinely recommend it, hit me up in the DMs for a link and some rewards. Stay healthy!
