AlphaPet WOW Chicken and Giblets Cat Food

I've been feeding my kitty this AlphaPet cat food for a while now, and I'm really impressed. It's made with real chicken and giblets, which I know is a big deal for a healthy meal. The grain-free formula is a total win, and she loves the taste - I've even caught her licking her bowl clean. What I've noticed is a huge difference in her energy levels since switching to this food. It's clear the ingredients are top-notch, and I appreciate that there are no fillers to worry about. I've tried a few different brands, but this one's my go-to for value for money and ease of use.

My Disappointing Experience with This Cat Food: A Cautionary Tale

summarizeEditor's Summary

I've been searching for a decent dry cat food that meets our 19 feline friends' diverse needs, but this new food didn't live up to my expectations. The ingredients seem to be the root of the problem – they're probably using cheap, low-quality options to cut costs. I'm not impressed with this food, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The cats ate it quickly, but it caused digestive issues in several of them, and it doesn't provide the necessary nutrients for their diverse needs.

I've been searching high and low for a decent dry cat food that meets our 19 feline friends' diverse needs. With many big brands pulling out of Russia, it's getting increasingly difficult to find a suitable option. We've got a mix of strays and rescues living with us, and each cat has its own set of requirements.
Our go-to brand used to be a Canadian one, but it's now made in China. And let's be real, many other brands have followed suit. I'm not a fan of this trend, to say the least. It seems like they're prioritizing cost savings over quality.
I think the root of the problem lies in the ingredients they use. They're probably opting for the cheapest, lowest-quality options to cut costs.
I decided to give this new food a try, so I purchased a 400g pack.
At first, I was impressed with this food. The aroma was amazing – it smelled like a sweet treat. All 19 cats devoured it with gusto, and even I was tempted to sneak a bite (don't tell anyone!).
However, as we all know, it's not just about the initial appeal.
So, I purchased a 7kg pack, thinking it was the perfect solution. The packaging was solid, with no holes or tears – a nice touch, considering they don't even bother with extra packaging. The design was sleek, too. Although, I do wish they'd included a lock to prevent accidental openings. No big deal, though – I just use kitchen clips to keep it shut.
The only plus side was that none of the cats got hairballs on this food. But, the biggest con was the digestive issues. It started with a runny stool, and some of the cats even got diarrhea. We've got a few rescues that are super sensitive, and they're usually fine on any food. But this one had them all beat.
It's like they're saying, 'Quality, schmuality – we'll just put whatever we want in there!' This is the kind of thing you'd expect from a human food, not a cat food.
And, to make matters worse, it's right there on the packaging: 'Quality like for humans!' I mean, what's next? 'Our cat food is made with love – and a dash of magic!'
The expiration date was still fresh, so I thought maybe it was just a one-time thing. But nope, it kept happening even after I switched to a new pack. We ended up going through 14kg of this stuff, and I even added probiotics and digestive enzymes to try and help. Nothing worked.
I'm not a fan of the pshenitsa in this food, either. It's not like our cats need it, and it's probably just a cheap, chemical-laden ingredient to cut costs.
Who's going to put expensive ingredients in cat food, anyway?
Once again, I'm reminded that we can't trust our local manufacturers when it comes to pet food. We've switched back to our old brand, and the digestive issues are gone – instantly.
So, I'm left wondering, what's causing the diarrhea in this food?
This food is priced similarly to international brands, which is a total joke. A 7kg pack costs around 3600 rubles – on average. They've got grain-free options, but those are even pricier.
Needless to say, I won't be trying those anytime soon.
If you don't want to deal with the same issues we had, then I'd advise against this food. I'm not even sure who this would suit – we've got 19 cats with different needs, and none of them were happy with this stuff.
19 cats and counting...
