We decided to spend a holiday outing at the Moscow Tower.

I booked our tickets in advance - you can find the link here.

You can buy tickets exactly a month in advance - no earlier.

There are two types of tickets available.

1. Route 1: Panoramic View of Moscow 360° - Visiting the observation deck at 337 meters. No guided tour.

2. Route 2: Inside the Tower - Guided tour to the technical route at 85 meters and visiting the observation deck at 337 meters.

We opted for the second route with a guided tour. The adult ticket cost 2,500 rubles, and the child ticket was 2,000 rubles.

Make sure to arrive at least 30 minutes before your booked time due to security checks.

First, we walked down a long glass corridor and joined a queue. While we were waiting, a girl came over and exchanged our coupons for tickets. Security was super tight, like at the airport. They made sure to check every single person's documents.

You can't bring in water, but there's a water cooler near the coat check with cups.

The first floor has an interactive exhibit showing how the tower was built, the development of TV, and some other cool displays.

The tour started with a lift ride up to the 85th floor of the tower - just to clarify, the floors are measured in meters, not actual floors.

They told us all about the tower's construction, and basically, Ostankino Tower is a hollow, cone-shaped shell with a massive base. Put simply, it's like a chess piece with a heavy base. The shell is made of monolithic concrete, and the walls are compressed by 149 prestressed cables, each spaced 7 meters apart.

We put on our white hard hats and headed out to the open observation deck.

I rode the elevator up to the 337th floor to the observation deck, but unfortunately, the city was shrouded in fog, so I couldn't see much. Still, it was cool to check it out - there's a glass floor that lets you see the ground below.

There's a gift shop on the observation deck.

One thing that bugged me was when I tried to head back down - there was a long line for the elevator and I ended up waiting for 20 minutes.

Other than that, I really enjoyed my visit.
