My Mixed Experience with Modi's Store Chain

I've been familiar with Modi's store chain for a while now, and to be honest, it's a bit of a mixed bag. I've made a few purchases there, but not many.

Stores.

The stores are small, but they're tidy and well-organized. The products are stacked up high, and it's hard to miss them. Honestly, I don't really remember how the stores are decorated because the products are what really grab your attention.

Staff.

The staff is friendly and unobtrusive. They might try to upsell you on something, but that's about it.

Product range.

There's a whole wall of goodies opposite the checkout counter. I put 'goodies' in quotes because I haven't actually tried any of them.I was surprised that my husband just walked past this section without batting an eye - I thought for sure he'd be all over it, but I guess not. He loves this kind of thing, but for some reason, this place just didn't do it for him.The store has an enormous selection of home decor, but for some reason, I just couldn't muster up the enthusiasm to make a purchase. There are some quality control issues - some things are poorly painted, and so on, which makes the prices seem a bit steep.Case in point: this one-eyed stress-relief pig - it's already missing one eye, and I'm curious to see how long it takes for the other one to go?

If I zoom in on the orange cup, I can see some scratches on it.I found these super cute glasses with a rose design. But, man, this glass is super thin - I wouldn't dare buy something like this, especially at a price of around 1,200-1,300 rubles per piece. That's way too expensive.Toys.I found two toys from my childhood. The xylophone is pretty cool - I had one when I was a kid, but my mom always hid it from my sister and me. We loved playing with it, though!And, of course, I had to take a photo of this one.Next up is one of the most interesting sections I've come across so far.

I remember buying a dartboard as a gift, but for some reason, we never ended up giving it to the person. I'm not sure why it's still lying around, but I decided to open it out of curiosity:Normal. Perfect for a big and fun party. Beauty section.And there's plenty of that. Mirrors, makeup, sponges, lip balms, and all sorts of little knick-knacks:There's a stand with hair accessories and combs that I didn't really like.

Just like the jewelry stand, it looks uninviting. I forgot to take a picture, but there's nothing really worth looking at. But the umbrellas caught my eye - I loved the color options. They had bags, wallets, hats, umbrellas, and all sorts of other stuff. There's also a section with pet supplies:Honestly, our cats already have everything they need, so we didn't end up buying anything. Although we did consider getting a new laser pointer, we decided to stick with our old batteries instead.What I bought?

I picked up a lens case and a cooling pad. The total came out to be around 200 rubles.The 'Almaz' cooling pad was a pleasant surprise - it's way more convenient than using regular ice.It wasn't until I was browsing through my photos at home that I noticed another item from the kitchenware section. Metal straws:We bought these a while back, and I'm pretty sure they weren't 500 rubles - they were way cheaper. To my surprise, they're still in great condition and we're still using them. The best part is that we don't need to buy plastic straws anymore.That's pretty much it.My Verdict. I've noticed that Modi's selection doesn't change much, and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Prices have gone up over the years, and some items have ridiculously high price tags. But you can still find some decent stuff.
