I'm sure many of us have experienced the frustration of dealing with tangled charging cables.
Whether it's the cable itself or the port on your phone, it's always been a bit of a hassle to deal with.
One of my biggest pet peeves is when I need to grab my phone quickly and I have to unplug the cable, only to sometimes forget it's there and yank it out, which can loosen the port on my phone.
Okay, I haven't had any issues with the port itself, but my son's second phone is on its way out because the port got damaged from the constant yanking of the cable.
When I was still using my iPhone 12, I dreamed of wireless charging, which Apple introduced with the iPhone 13 – magnetic Power Banks and MagSafe accessories.
Sometime ago, I asked my husband to buy me a new Power Bank because my old one went missing, and he got me a magnetic one thinking it would work with my iPhone 12. To my surprise, it did work, but later I got an iPhone 15, and the magnetic charging cable fit like a glove.
I still kept my old charging cable because my Power Bank usually stayed in my bag or at work.
When I yanked the charging cable out of the socket one too many times, I realized I needed a MagSafe device for good.
MagSafe is a patented technology by Apple that includes a magnetic attachment system and wireless charging for iPhones and other devices. It was announced in 2020 alongside the release of the iPhone 12.
And that's how I ended up with the MagSafe Charger.

Packaging: The packaging is a small, matte white cardboard box with a picture of a MagSafe circle on it. On the front, there's some extra info about the device on the sides too.
Seal check looks like a perforated plastic strip with a green arrow.
Inside the box, in a separate cardboard insert, you'll find the cable with a magnet and a single piece of paper.
Length of the cable: 95 cm.
I was expecting some flaws for 800 rubles, but the MagSafe magnet is actually pretty solid. It's made of plastic, and there are no defects on the magnet or its body. However, the cable coming from the magnet is a different story - it's got some kinks and irregularities.
The other end of the cable has a USB Type-C port, which is perfect for charging my Apple devices. Or, you know, any other device with a Type-C port, if you've got an adapter handy.
When I plug it in, it looks just like the original charger.
Since I've got a 15-model iPhone, I don't need a special case for this charger. But if you've got an 8-12 model, you might want to consider getting one, because the magnet doesn't stick well through a regular case and you'll have to take it off every time.
The magnet doesn't need any alignment - it just snaps into place right next to the magnetic coil under the phone's body.
Magnet is super strong: it sticks to another magnet under my phone's case so tightly that it's hard to just pick it up and move it. I even held it by the cord for a while. But it detaches easily.
Charging starts right away when the magnet is connected.
MagSafe charges way slower than through a cable, just like everyone's been saying:
MagSafe - 78% charges in 2 hours 28 minutes; Cable - 79% charges in 1 hour 21 minutes.
Another downside I read about before buying was that the MagSafe gets the phone's panel hot, just like the MagSafe itself, which is not cool for a product that costs over 5,000 rubles, when you can get a cable for 900 rubles.
Wireless charging with MagSafe is a pretty cool feature, at least it keeps the cable port on my phone from getting loose if I forget it's charging and yank it, like I do. I'll deduct a star for the not-so-great connection to the cord, though.
Overall, I'm satisfied with the MagSafe Charger, but I do have some reservations. The cable quality could be better, and the charging speed is slower than with a traditional cable. However, the convenience of wireless charging is a major plus, and the magnet is strong and reliable. If you're in the market for a MagSafe charger, I'd recommend giving this one a try.
