So, how and when did I get this set?

My parents used to have these super basic, plain plates and cups made of third-grade porcelain with gold trim back in the Soviet days. Everything changed when we got a microwave oven. Those fancy plates with gold trim weren't exactly microwave-friendly, so my mom picked up a Luminarc set for 6 people at work (at a supermarket chain) at a discounted price - the 6-person Luminarc set. At the time, this kind of tableware was pricey and seemed super fancy, but we weren't buying it to display in a china cabinet and take out only on special occasions. So, that's when our Luminarc set really started to get some use. After I moved out, I ended up keeping the set, minus two soup bowls, so it's been with me since I was 14 (now I'm 32) and has been a daily presence ever since.

So, my set includes: a salad bowl, deep plates, appetizer plates in two different sizes, creamers, dinner plates, cups, and bouillon cups. Originally, all the pieces except the salad bowl came in sets of 6.

Rummaging through each item in the set, I found that the salad bowl has held up incredibly well, even after being dropped a few times. Still looks brand new, no chips or cracks in sight.

I have to say, the cups are quite cute when paired with the plates. They're small, with a capacity of only 200ml each. Unfortunately, one of them got broken.

I use this beauty every day. A few points that can help you understand the level of quality of this tableware.
Each item is made of quite thick glass.This tableware can withstand a fall from a height of about human height. I've dropped the dishes many times, but they haven't broken. All the plates that broke either fell on a very hard surface (the edge of a sink) or were given an extra boost.I constantly reheat food in the microwave on this tableware. The heat doesn't affect the items: no cracks, no damage to the design.Since 2016, I've been regularly using a dishwasher. Again, I want to note that the design hasn't faded and hasn't worn off, except in rare cases (on a creamer and on a few plates, the design has slightly faded).
All in all, my set has turned out to be very long-lasting, and I hope it will serve me for many more years. Probably, I'll get tired of it first.
Actually, I'm not giving 5 stars to Luminarc's dishes. Why? It's simple: the quality of both individual items and the dishes themselves has gotten significantly worse.
In 2015, I bought a few flat and deep plates, as well as a salad bowl from Luminarc for my summer house. And what did I get? Absolutely terrible quality. The dishes chip and crack just from being near each other. This is especially true for the deep plates. Out of the original 6 I bought, I'm left with only 2 at my summer house! Two of them shattered into pieces, and the others got chipped and cracked.
The flat plates hold up a bit better, but they've got a lot of tiny scratches on the bottom that are visible from a distance. Two out of 6 are chipped.

I think the Luminarc dinnerware sets that were produced before 2008-2010 have a lot more durability and wear resistance. Nowadays, similar plates are disposable: they scratch, chip, and break easily. The quality of the colored design is also subpar on many of the items.

I guess if you want to buy a truly worthwhile Luminarc dinnerware set, you should look for ones that are 15 years old or more on Avito. Or, you know, buy it in a store and be prepared to replace it in 6-7 years.
