My Dream Bathroom Makeover with Leroy Merlin Tiles - A Game-Changer for Guests!

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently renovated my bathroom with the Azori Hygge collection tiles from Leroy Merlin, and I've gotta say, it's been a total game-changer for guests! The tiles are not only stylish but also incredibly durable and easy to clean. I was blown away by the build quality and the battery life of the tile adhesive, which made the whole process a breeze. One thing I wish I'd done differently was to order more tiles upfront, as I ended up having to make a second trip to the store. The tiles are perfect for anyone looking to give their bathroom a makeover, and I'm super happy with my choice. I'd definitely recommend these tiles to anyone looking for a stylish and durable option.

I recently moved into a new apartment in March this year, courtesy of Lider Group, a pretty dodgy developer. The place has been delayed by four years, and I got it without any finishing work, so we had to do everything ourselves.
Today, I'm talking about the bathroom renovation, and specifically about the Azori Hygge collection tiles that I picked up at Leroy Merlin in December 2021. Here's the link to the tile on the manufacturer's website.
About the brand:
The story of the AZORI brand, one of the most recognizable Russian tile makers, started in 2006 when the trademark was launched in Russia and the surrounding region.
Since 2012, AZORI has been introducing new tile collections that use modern printing technology, digital printing, and a new format of 201x505.
The new collections are characterized by the reproduction of natural stone, marble, and textile textures using a new technology.
I'll tell you all about the most unique and charming accent tile from the collection - Hygge Grey Mix - and mention the other Hygge collection tiles that I combined with it.
Here it is:
Size: 31.5 x 63.0 cmThickness: 9.5 mmSurface: MatteTexture: Micro-releif structureQuantity per box: 8 tilesCost per box / square meter at the time of writing the review at Leroy Merlin in St. Petersburg: 2,782 rub / 1,749 rub.I've got to say, the prices have gone up by about 30% compared to last year's prices, but the collection is still available in the same volume. I've got three collections of Hugge tiles to choose from at Leroy Merlin: my grey (grey), moka (coffee color), and light (white).
I had to decide whether to combine grey + light or moka + light in the interior design - in other words, go for a coffee-white or grey-white bathroom.
Hugge Moka + Hugge Light:
I have to say, everything about this design was great, except for the 'heated floor' effect, where the pipes and toilet installation are hidden. We sketched out a second option with a slightly different tile layout, which I ended up choosing - the grey bathroom looked more stylish to me than the mocha-colored one.
My bathroom layout is a bit of a challenge - I've got a whopping 5.4 cubic meters to play with, and ceilings that are a modest 2.55 meters high.
I've scoured the internet, but I still can't find out how many boxes of tile I needed for the walls and floor - but I can tell you that the entire tile job came in around 45k rubles (back when prices were a bit lower). I used a mix of Hugge Grey Mix (2063 rubles per box), Hugge Grey (1174 rubles per box), and Hugge Light (1904 rubles per box) - all three of which are featured in the design above. And, as you can see, I've also got the flooring tile on display in a box (it's smooth to the touch and a bit smaller than the others). Unfortunately, I seem to have lost the box shots for the Hugge Light tile (which is smooth and the same size as the Hugge Grey Mix tile).
My bathroom after moving in:
My bathroom after applying cement-based plaster:
Next, I bought some tiles, and a tile fitter came to install them - it was a breeze!
I'm absolutely thrilled with the result - my bathroom looks amazing, and my guests love it too (I hope they're not just being nice!). One of my neighbors even ordered the same tile collection, but in a different color - Mocha.
I love the look of large tiles - it adds a touch of elegance to the space. The combination of white and gray tiles helps to create a sense of depth, and the textured Hugge Gray Mix adds a nice accent to the design. Plus, it's surprisingly easy to clean - I was worried that the texture would make it harder to clean, but so far, so good!I have to say, I'm not a fan of how hard it is to clean, but it's not a deal-breaker.
The plates are thick and even, which makes them lie flat and secure - I can compare them to a super cheap tile I bought for my hallway, and it's thinner and less even.
I don't know what's going on with prices right now, but at the time of my purchase, the Azori Hugge collection from Leroy Merlin was a solid mid-range option, and I'm super happy with my choice.
Here are some closer looks at the texture, thickness, and reverse side:
I'd definitely recommend the Azori Hugge collection for wall and floor tiles - they look great, lay comfortably, and the price is reasonable. After browsing the manufacturer's website, I got the impression that their products are made with taste, so if you're doing a renovation, I'd suggest checking them out. Thanks for reading!
