Lay's Ruffled Potato Chips Steakhouse Ribeye with Horseradish Sauce

These Lay's ruffled potato chips are a flavor bomb just waiting to blow your taste buds away. Inspired by the rich flavors of a steakhouse, they're perfect for munching on the go or as a side to your fave meals. Crunchy texture, savory taste - what's not to love?

My Take on Lay's Steak Ribeye Chips: A Flavor That's Just Okay

summarizeEditor's Summary

I recently tried Lay's ruffled chips in the steak ribeye with peppercorn sauce flavor, and while they're not bad, they're not exactly what I'd call a home run either. The packaging is pretty eye-catching, but at $1.70 a bag, it's a bit pricey for what you get. The chips themselves have a decent taste and a nice aroma, but that's about where the positives end. The biggest letdown is the quality control - I found a bunch of chips with burn marks and stains. If you're a fan of steak and peppercorn sauce, you might enjoy these, but for me, they're just okay.

Hello everyone!
I recently picked up a pack of Lay's ruffled chips in the steak ribeye with peppercorn sauce flavor. The 169.99 rubles price tag was a bit steep, but I'm always up for trying new flavors.
The packaging is a real showstopper - that gorgeous burgundy-red color scheme is eye-catching, to say the least.
Check out that mouth-watering steak:
I love that it's made from SELECTED potatoes - that's a nice touch.
And look, it's part of the Meat Week series - I'm curious to see what other flavors they have.
On the reverse side, you'll find info on the other flavors in this series - and it looks like they're all meat-based.
But what's interesting is that from what I can see, these are the only chips in the series - the rest are just crackers.
Also, on the reverse side, you'll find nutrition info - which is always a good thing.
And, of course, nutrition facts - which is where things get a bit tricky.
Let's face it, about 50% of the packaging is air - which is a bit of a waste, if you ask me.
The aroma of the chips is pleasant, though - something like bacon and smoked meat.
And here are the chips themselves:
Frankly, I'm not sure how selective the potatoes were that went into my pack of chips, but I got a pretty good number of chips with dark edges and some spots.
You can see small dark spots on the chips - which is a bit of a turn-off.
As for the taste of the chips, they're not bad.
It's something between the flavor of a shashlik and bacon. Lay's had a flavor with sausages in the past, and this one's similar to their 'steak ribeye with pepper sauce' - it's definitely a meaty flavor, typical for potato chips with meat flavors.
It's salty with a hint of sweetness and a touch of acidity. The pepper's not too spicy - it doesn't burn, but rather gives a pleasant warmth in your mouth.
But of course, this is not a steak at all.
I'm not sure why the manufacturer chose 'ribeye' for the flavor name, because it's got nothing to do with steaks in general - you could just as easily call it 'strip loin' or 'filet mignon.'
That being said, it's a decent flavor, and I'm sure fans of 'meaty' flavors will enjoy it.
I'd recommend buying them - at least to try them out and form your own opinion.
Thanks for reading, I hope my review was helpful!
